We did this as a second hike and it was a little difficult for non seasoned hikers. But nonetheless Beautiful hike. 0-100 elevation increase once you hit the clearing but it’s worth the view. Power lines felt like they would never end but once they do it is really nice scenery and quiet. Not too busy we did this on a long weekend Monday and only saw a few groups of people. Worth the steep incline!

Great trail and followed advice to take White Tail for first section up which was quite easy going.. A really decent challenge for new MTBers and a great rest point at Merlin’s Chair..

Hiked this the other day with my kids. Easy, beautiful Hike. Pack a lunch and enjoy the lake when you get there. Campsite where clean, well taken care of.

Great loop! Nice and flowy! I do this once a week on a weekday morning (Zero crowds at this time). The trail is getting pretty rocky and rooted right now from people riding it in wet conditions. The downhill part of Merlin’s is in great condition. Took 1h10m with a few breaks.

Late July 2018. There are some nice views of Upper K Lake and looking back while hiking up the valley to Turbine, but most of the time is spent in the woods. Beautiful woods, but not that many views. After Forks, the hike up is challenging, but on a well maintained trail. When you make it to Turbine, make sure you actually check out the falls that are a 60 second walk from the campground (half of the people that we met didn't know it was there including us!). If you made it this far, it's well worth the 2.2 km to Maude Lake where you can capture Beatty Glacier, Maude Lake and the continental divide all in one panoramic shot.
Many other backpackers were hiking the loop to Three Isle via Mt Beatty. We made the rookie mistake of giving it a try without a map and couldn't find the route to Beatty Lake Camp, but spent the day in the Northern Kanaskis Pass and were struck by it's beauty.

Great trail. Took us 4 hours to complete with a 20
Minute stop for lunch. You have to pay attention on the backside of Merlin as the bikers come down quick so you’ll need to be ready to move.

Simple review here. Absolutely beautiful spot. Great backcountry camping spots. Outhouses were clean. Lake is beautiful and fishing was great. Not the biggest fish but they bite like mosquitos. Follow @Thebackcountrycamper on Instagram

Epic hike! One of the best scrambles so far!

This was a very deceiving trail. It is not for beginners. As well there were many grizzly sightings along the way and the trail was not clearly marked. Beautiful views but for experienced hikers.

The plan was to do the West Wind Pass hike.We missed the path at some point and decided to follow the Rimwall Route instead of doubling back.Made it as far as the ridge at 2,400 metres or so elevation but not the summit. Beautiful view of both sides from the top of the ridge! (Saturday, July 15)

Very busy trail but a fantastic Mountain biking loop.

Fairly easy hike. Under 2 hrs with a 3 year old (only including lake loop). Beautiful lake and lots of places to stop for a picnic or dip in the water.

Did this hike Canada Day weekend. Absolutely stunning. On the way there we went from sunshine to rain to a little hail but for the most part it was alright, some patches of snow on the ground but didn't need any crampons or snowshoes. Slept at Turbine Sunday night and woke up to see beautiful frosted mountains. We thought it would only snow on the mountaintops but about 5 minutes into breakfast we got hit with heavy hail that quickly turned to flurries. The hike back to Forks felt like a completely different experience with everything above the switchbacks blanketed in a white crystal sheet. In the span of 3 hours we went from sun -> hail -> snow -> rain -> sun when we finally hit Forks.
It's a tiring climb up with a backpack but it's well worth the views.

Awesome hike. Beautiful scenery from start to finish.

Tiring but worth it. We started at 8.30AM. We missed the 4th cairn. So we decided to go straight up. Climbed the rock bands. We didn’t want to lose any elevation but we didn’t know which crack we have to attack. Finally we saw a route that leads to the top of the band. Man it was so tiring. We were so happy we made it. The route finding will be a challenge.

Hiked to aster set up camp. Then skinned to Joffre the next morning. Lots of snow from the valley just past aster to the summit of Joffre June 16th

Such a fun trail to do. Ride Merlin counter clock wise for a smooth fast downhill. Very busy trail so keep you eyes open especially on Baggin Rights. But yeah, go do it!

Did this loop today with a friend and it was pretty easy. We are fairly fit so we could have used more of a challenge, but it is a very beautiful and easy trail to follow! Very little incline. 15 km took us about 2.5 - 3 hours. Should be rated easy

Love this trail, varied areas, amazing view of a valley.

I really love this Trail the beginning is a bit steep but once you get to to the lake the rest is pretty flat easily one of my favorite hikes

We did see the mama bear with her 3 cubs just before the Highwood parking area, she stayed on the Ptarmigan Cirque side

I did this hike the weekend after I did pocaterra ridge. They are in perfect view of each other. We did Elbow lake, Elbow pass, Tombstone pass then both the lower and upper Tombstone lakes. It was a long hike but the scenery was phenomenal.

Great hike! Missed the peak of the golden larches but so beautiful anyway. Almost missed the trail head ( you turn left off the ptarmigan cirque/Highwood meadows trail at the sign which says "Fragile Area, stay on designated trails". Lots of snow on trail at this time of year , mental note to bring trax or crampons next time :).

cool place! great easy hike!

Trail and area is currently closed as of September 28/2017 due to a Sow and cubs.
Larch's up top looked beautiful but not worth the risk of running into a protective momma bear.

Not a strenuous hike, can be done in about 3-4 hours with lots of breaks. The larch trees are in their prime right now! Plenty of beautiful places to stop for lunch and admire the scenery. Elevation is gained and lost throughout the trail, minimal scramble to the top for the view.

Very slippery approaching the ridge. You definitely need poles and shoe grips. Extremely beautiful hike

Very easy. Very pretty.

Hiked up to Pocaterra Cirque last Saturday to see the Larches change colour.
It was a great hike. Lots of amazing views and beautiful fall colours. The hike itself was not too hard. Lots of people on the trail but still fun.
Early snow made the trail that much more fun.
