No real trail head marker but easy enough to find regardless. Easy to follow trail for the first kilometer but then its gets swampy for about a quarter kilometer and from there your guess is as good as mine as to where the trail is. Still enjoyed my morning as this was my first truly solo hike, no dogs. ❤

One of my favourite places to go! Brought up a group of people on Friday night and stayed until Sunday. Lots of fish caught and released as there is now a 0 limit harvest, whereas it used to be a limit of 2 cutthroat trout.

The hike up is pretty steep, lots of up hill but as long as you take your time it is a decent hike. Lots of people on the trail early morning and midday.

We camped between two of the lakes, and despite it raining lightly one of the nights we stayed, the weather was warm and sunny with a little bit of cloud later in the day.

Highly recommend spending a night or two and adventuring around or fishing to spend time in the great outdoors!

Beautiful hike. Some steep sections. Some later sections through loose boulders. A nice mix of open and covered areas.

this has been a fav of mine since I was a kid. and yesterday I took my 10 year old daughter on the first back packing trip there. trail was great. straight up the whole way. but totally worth it. We camped between the 3rd and 4th lakes. extremely windy last night. hiked out today. there was a ton of people hiking up today. She did fantastic.

This is one of my favorite hikes near Calgary. Parking is fairly limited at Lantern Creek recreation area so I'd recommend getting an earlier start. The trailhead is across the highway and on the other side of the creek.

Most of the elevation is gained in the first few kilometers as you ascend up a the valley. There are plenty of views in all directions as you make your way up. As you reach the saddle and approach the first lake, the path gets a touch more difficult as you must navigate the rock debris. There are four lakes to see, and we didn't attempt to make it beyond the fourth. The group favorite was the third lake, and we had lunch at the far end of it. I'd like to try coming back here later in the summer and attempt a swim, but it would have to be a warm day. There are lots of trails braiding around both sides of the lake, and I don't think there are any bad choices with the route you take. I'd rate this hike medium-difficult because of the ascent/descent, but at 10km long it's a pretty approachable distance.

Apparently fishing is an option (with a license), and we spotted a few random camp sites around the lake.

My favourite trail so far. Loved it. Definitely worth the work. Strava tracked it as 13.5km hike with about 600m elevation gain.

Loved the hike, highly recommend. We made it to the third lake, next time will do the 4th. The trail entrance is across and up the road a minute.

Great hike with nice views

Trail was beautiful with a gorgeous waterfall at the end. Challenge crossing the river twice with 2 small kids and a small dog but all in all a lovely hike. Bring your bathing suit!

Super easy, quick hike in to the falls. The bridges are gone so we had to ford the creek twice (knee deep).

Beautiful view but the bridge to the falls was taken out and we never got to see them. That was disappointing as it’s why we chose this hike. The path was nice though!

We took 5 dogs to see these 4 lakes. All of the elevation is gained on the way to the first lake, and from there, it is less than 5 minutes to the second lake and so on. Worth it to stop between the 3rd and 4th lake for lunch. Beautiful cirque views. Dogs had water along the way. Took us about 5 hours with lots of photo ops and swim/snack breaks!

Trail? What trail??? - 0/5

Trail disappears regularly, unstable boulder fields, not an enjoyable day.

Quiet, strenuous, beautiful!

One of my favorite hikes, it’s easy enough for the whole family! And still is such beautiful scenery throughout! The waterfall at the end is so pretty!

Good moderate hike, we started early and no one was on the trail. As we descended from the lakes the trail became a bit more busy. Round trip 4 1/2 hrs.

great place

one of our most favorite hikes. we have done this hike every summer with our kids. it is an easy hike and the waterfall at the end is simply beautiful. the kids love to play in the icy cold water

The first 3k are a grind if you are not use to elevation gain. Good little day hike. I have done other hikes with much more rewarding views but the fishing at the lakes was worth it. Came out to 10.64k round trip to the first lake.

Beautiful hike.

We loved this hike! Gorgeous views. A little steep and rocky at the top. I would not rate this as a easy hike but totally worth the effort. Lots of anglers when we went.

Great for kids! Spent almost 2 hours playing around the waterfall. 5 kids (age 8, 6, 6, 4 and one year old in a backpack) and only took about 30-40 min one way. Looks like construction might have the trail starting at a different part because we didn't cross the road and little hill to climb at the start, but kids all managed just fine!

Nice moderate hike featuring mostly lateral traverses with only one steep uphill pitch. Very scenic and worth the effort.

Not easy but a great moderate hike. Beautiful!

Great hike for kids! Short, has interesting signs about the forest and history of the area along the way. Two small bridges with the falls at the end where your kids can splash and play. Great hike to bring swim clothes and an extra pair of dry after you're all done.

If you're feeling a bit more adventurous, just before you go over the two bridges, there's a small fire pit camp area to the left. There's a trail on the back end that if you follow it up the hill and then down the other side, you're able to follow the creek and enjoy several different waterfalls. Very enjoyable.

Four beautiful lakes and good fishing. We had a great time relaxing at the lakes.

The trail itself is definitely more of a moderate hike than easy. It's steep and steady climbing as you get closer to the lakes.

I think that the reward at the end of the hike is well worth the effort.

I recommend bug spray. There are quite a few mosquitos and flys due to being near by water.

Overall, it was a really great hike.

Directions to parking and start of trail are good. The trail is well defined and easy to follow.

I'd disagree with the "easy" rating on this hike. The majority of it is uphill and there is a decent stretch of a steep slope that is challenging. Moderate would be more appropriate as it is often difficult but not dangerous.

There was a fair amount of smoke in the air today so the views were hazy and looked fake but still incredible.

Beautiful hike. Is rated as easy although I would say moderate due to some quite steep spots and poles would definitely be an asset in those areas.

Absolutely beautiful lakes at the end of the trail. It was a cooler day today (18ºC) and at the lakes themselves, it was considerably cooler. The fish were plentiful and you could see them coming to the surface of the water constantly. There was a lot of activity in the water!

This hike is listed as "easy" and I would very much argue that it is at least a slight "moderate" hike. There are many steep sections and nearly the entire way to the lakes is uphill. In turn, this means that the whole way back is downhill :)

It also listed as family friendly, which I suppose it technically is. However, my son (currently 8) and daughter (currently 5) did struggle with this hike. It would be family friendly with older children who are used to hiking. Even children who are older and are unused to hiking would find this challenging.

That being said, I absolutely recommend that if you'd like to try that you give this trail a go. It's well laid out, clean, well maintained and we did not see a whole lot of wildlife, other than fish.
