First backcountry backpack trip, and let me tell you. There’s an absolutely stunning lake and view from the top. BUT if you aren’t an experience backpacker, this isn’t the first place you should be going. With overpacked bags, took my group and I about 3.5-4 hours to get to the lake and about 2 hour decent. There were points where anxiety would set in just thinking about having to go back down. Sweet place but don’t recommend unless you have SOME experience in hiking and packing for such trips. I will be doing it again this summer (2018) but will pack my sack completely different! Hope this helps someone!!!!

P.S.: no canned food and no “what if” items.

I love this hike in the summer so I decided to try it in the winter and it was wonderful! It was challenging in spots but it was fine! Due to all the snow I took a wrong turn and couldn’t find the lakes. However, I did manage to scale my way up to the summit which was amazing! And the snow made it a lot of FUN for me and my pup to slide back on down!

I’ve done this hike a few times now. He most recent was Jan,3,2018 there wasn’t to much snow at all! Crampons would be a good thing to have and some polls. It’s a hard trail but definitely a god day hike it take about 4 hours in and out!

Went here may long weekend with friends... this was the second time I’ve done this trail. I did it in July a few years back and it snowed on us. This time in may the lake was still frozen. Amazing hike and great views with camping areas. The trail is steep in areas but well worth the challenge.

Completed this amazing trail August long weekend 2017. The hike in is challenging, it is a long, pretty steady incline over the 16km. Most of the trail was in excellent condition. There were a few areas that had been washed out but we found them to be relatively well marked (not sure why others had trouble?). It took us 8 hours to get in with a few breaks and a lunch stop. Getting out was a breeze - under 5 hours (with 35 pound packs). Definitely bring a fishing rod, the lake has incredible fishing.
I wouldn't rate this trail hard but it's definitely intermediate. Also details say no dogs but that is not true.
I don't generally do the same hike twice, but I'll be back to do this one again.

One of our favorite lakes to go to. Did the small 2.5 km trail as there is a geo cache there we wanted to find. Great trails, was a few downed tree's but nothing that we couldn't get around.

Decent trail for a quick walk. It's nothing spectacular. The trail on the north side of the lake has a lot of roots but is still in decent shape.

Nice trail all the way to the lake. Took just over an hour at a good pace. Pretty tough trek up to the peak with loose shale all the way up. Not recommended for beginners. Just under an hour to highway, would do again!

Easy hike, not stroller friendly at all. Beautiful views of the lake and the campground looks fantastic. Will do it again.

Beautiful views. However be prepared for a rock covered path.

nice easy after dinner walk, lots of birds, and a nice board walk at the north end. Relaxing, and even saw a moose! Campground is nice too, stalked rainbows, very small, great for the kiddies!

Very steep. Not recommended for those who are unfit. We made it up in 2 hours and 15 minutes and down in 2 hours. Challenging with many different types if terrain to keep things interesting.

I loved doing this trail!!! I'm pretty much inexperienced with long hikes like this but it's definitely doable. Had to stop and take a breather a few times, but only took me 2 hours to get to the lake. About 1 hour to get back down.

A reasonably tough slog but a great adventure! Steady elevation gain. Nice lake at the top. A bit smokey so the views today were obscured. Would plan to camp at the lake next time instead of doing out and back in a day.

Very rewarding hike. I went last week. The hike is very beautiful. Recommended for sure. Lots of fish in the lake up in the mountain and very recommend bring a fishing rod.

Our group was made of varying fitness and we managed to make it to the lake in two hours and twenty minutes. The descent took an hour 45. I would recommend trekking poles because the trail is quite steep both ways and with the loose shale it would be easy to lose your footing and yard sale down the trail.

The hike was gruelling to say the least. There is no noticeable signage for the Landslide Lake/Lake of Falls trail so we ended up on the Pinto Lake trail before realizing this. The washout from 4 years ago has made a large section of the trail from the horse camp midway up, very difficult and in some places very unsafe for hiking. Once at the junction for Landslide or Lake of Falls, there is finally a sign showing directions to each lake. The hike took us 8 hours out from Landslide Lake to the trail head at the Cline River. I think this hike should be rated as hard and would not recommend it to an inexperienced hiker.

A good hard hike but the views at the lake are worth it. Lots of free camping spots but not all are flat or level. Take time to do the day hike above the lake to the Lake Of The Falls lookout. The 360 degree view from there is fantastic.

Not kidding when they say it's straight up.. awesome views of Abraham at parts on the way up, and the lake is gorgeous. We also did the summit, which was loose rock with no well-defined trail, but amazing views at the top. Definitely worth a go after touring the lake. I am not an experienced hiker by any means, and got up in 2hr 15 minutes. Definitely worth the effort!

Fabulous view of the lake surrounded by mountains, with comfortable and well maintained camp ground. And you can experience it all after a couple of days of hiking if you enter the trail from Landslide lake trailhead, it might involve some bush whacking and some swamps crossing, but for the most part the trail is well maintained and marked (GPS still might be a good tool to have).
The pass on the way out had a lot of snow in the mid of July, and a lot of breathtaking views, and just several hours of hiking up, then through the valleys, and then all the way down towards highway 93.

It was a great hike. The trail was a little washed out due to erosion but it was well marked out. Some of the marked out sections lead you in the right direction but actually were not the best paths to take and were pretty sketchy. Make sure to assess the detours to make sure it is worth while. It is not overly dog friendly but my dog had no issue and loved the hike. The fishing was unreal, every cast just about and a fish was on the line.

Approx 2hrs up at a reasonable pace, steep and loose traction at times, but well worth the ascent! Allstones lake is beautiful & very serene. Excellent spot for a picnic break! Approx 1hr descent.

This was a very tough hike up, it was our first hike and we are not in shape. The first part is straight up , it never seems to end. The lake is worth it , beautiful views and lots of fish jumping. The camping is great , lots of spots , lots of fire pits and home made benches.

Amazing views and camping sites. 10/10 would reccommend.

A good moderate hike. It takes about 45 - 60 minutes to hike to the lake. About the same time to go around the lake. The trail head is at the parking lot West of the Eagle Lake campground on the north side. There are outhouses and an info board. OHVs and horseback riders also share the trail so be mindful of the other users. Enjoy!

Don't know why this is rated as moderate, we scrambled at least half of this hike and it was a tough one. It's doable but I would not recommend it to first time or inexperienced hikers. Lots of opportunity to get lost and make mistakes!
Great view at the top and at the lake!
