Nice and easy hike

Trip on Jul. 14. A perfect day for hiking.

mama black bear with cubs on the trail. Unable to complete as she kept coming back and wouldnt get off the trail.

This is an awesome hike. Lots to see, a challenge to get though the gorge but fun. Your going to get wet so bring dry shoes!

It was green good elevation but green

Great family hike, our 4 year old had no trouble making it to the top and back down under his own power. I carried our 3month old in an infant carrier. Great place to have a picnic lunch beautiful views.

Nice easy walk took the easy route with the kids.

Lots of steep up hill climbing
Nice views at top

I just did it this morning. Followed other people’s suggestion, I went the hard way up and the easy way down. It was not a long or hard hike, but there was a lot to see. Lake, fall, water, rock climbing!! When you reach the top, the view is fantastic! There is little fish in the lake too

Amazing hike with lots of significant spots and lookout points. Going down the hard way the paths were hard to navigate and found are selves in the middle of the woods.

First time up EEOR this morning. Amazing day, no wind and no clouds. Very well marked with blue squares all the way up. Challenging climb with some scrambles but overall very doable for a novice like myself. Can’t wait to get out again.

Wow! What a hike. A little Difficult to find the trailhead so look for the turnout in the road. Loved all the rock and waterfalls along the way to the tree line to the top. Gorgeous views and a most excellent adventure! Will be doing this one again.

Amazing views! Take the easy way up and the more difficult way down! Totally worth it

Hiked this trail on June 13th at around 1030am, clear sunny sky. Cold at first but we dressed in layers so we were good all the way up and down. started on the more difficult trail and took 55 minutes to the lakes. The lakes look even better in person you can also spot some mountain climbers behind the second lake. We did this hike with our 5 month old, 11,7 and 5 year olds. We returned on the easy trail just for the experience.

Definitely take the more difficult route at least one way to get great views of the waterfall that are otherwise not seen on the easy hike. Lakes are beautiful

The view of the waterfall is gorgeous and the lakes up top were a nice surprise! A shorter hike but totally worth it.

So beautiful and an interesting hike that takes you through very shallow water, up rocks, etc. The lakes are a nice “prize” at the top—gorgeous water!

This trail is challenging at times but the views are incredible. It is quite windy at the top of the ridge. I felt like Dumbledore when he was in the cave in search of horcruxes while I waited for the wind to calm down. It was 31 degrees when I started the hike however it rained and hailed at the top of the ridge so layer up. Everyone suggests starting this trail at the left of the parking area but I couldn’t find it so I did it the other way around and it wasn’t too bad. Lots of climbing at the top and some areas are a little steep but very manageable. I would highly recommend bringing hiking poles.

Trails are poorly defined. Views are great. Steep sections are a bit dicey.

Did this hike today with some of my friends. Going up we ended up off the main trail. Lots of exposed rock so make sure you wear shoes with lots of grip. On our way down the main trail we realized that the trail is marked with blue squares painted on the rocks. Look out for those along the way and enjoy the scramble! Amazing views of Haling Peak. :)

on Grassi Lakes Trail

Definitely take the “more difficult” route up if you can- beautiful views. Dog friendly.

Very difficult hike. Lots of exposed rocks on the trail. Very uneven track. The hike isn’t marked well so be careful. Extreme incline the entire way. Not recommended for novice hikers. Amazing scenic views!!

Perfect view! Beautiful place!

This one is a great trail to start your hiking activity in the season - starter of sorts. You could choose the easy or the hard trail up, or mix them up. The hard trail has some lovely sights enroute but nothing beats the colour of the Grassi lakes!

Amazing view all the way to the summit especially at the weather station. Perfect place to rest and enjoy the view. We took the clockwise route which I would recommend, the scrambling part is not as difficult as it may seem.

Lady Macdonald is a tough hike and not for the faint of heart. It is tougher than Ha Ling Peak because you are going uphill continually. The slope can be quite steep at times and towards the upper half, there are lots of boulders and rocks. If you’re young it’s not a big deal but my husband and I are both over 55 so it’s tougher to balance. Walking sticks for our age is a must with good hiking boots. The distance was over 11 km and took us about 5 1/2 hrs. Coming downhill is tough on the knees and again the sticks really help. Make sure to wear a hat and use sunscreen if sunny. Despite it being partly in the woods, much of the trail is very sunny. Getting to the helipad was worth it though. The view was great and we sat there to eat our packed lunch. You can continue onto the summit but that would like take another hour. And it’s all shale at that point. It’s worth going at least once just so you can say you’ve done it.

It has everything. Mountain streams, waterfalls, lakes, stunning views, and well marked. Definitely take the more difficult way for the best experience. A few areas with a bit of a steeper incline but a great place to take beginner hikers to get them to fall in love with hiking.

2nd time on this trail (1st time to summit) and totally understand how easy it is to get lost as that happened to us the 1st time. Went early afternoon Saturday and was really windy up to the meadow then the weather settled for our summit. From the meadow up the rock scree before the scramble to the summit is the most challenging and I had several freak outs and wanted to turn around but with the encouragement of other hikers I made it. The top was so beautiful with a nice level spot for a break and pics. The sign in book at the top I read about was gone although the metal container is there (so whoever is reading this please take another book and pen up). I had to do some of the descent in a crab walk as it is very steep but by this time I was well over embarrassing myself. If my 51 year old fear of falling self can make this hike then you can too! And kudos to all you who post this hike took you under 4 hrs, took me 6 and I am standing proud!

My 5 year old and I had a great time on this trail. We took the hard path up and the easy way down. It was perfect.

Got lost on the way up so I recommend going with someone who's done it before. Very cold this morning at the summit (hail and lots of wind) and even had to put my gloves and beanie on. Amazing views! Next time I think I'll keep going over to Rundle 7.
