Such a beautiful hidden gem!! From one wildflower meadow to another. Great, easy day!
The trail head is a bit tough to find, but there are blue trail flags up the hill on the east side of highway 66. You can park in the rest area across the highway. The trail is relatively easy to follow if you follow the trail flags. When you are going to descend you come into a beautiful meadow on a steep slope. The trail is hard to find here. Find the tree with the white trail marker and go directly down the slope with a slight hiker right. There is a slight trail that will lead you back on the the trail. Keep going down and to your right (ish). Beauty day!

Lots of steep trekking and high climbs, but totally worth it! Just when you think you summit the hill, it brings you down and then higher yet again.

I did this as part of a 30k trail run loop yesterday, Pneuma > continuing Moose Packers > Ridgeback then back across Elbow. Ridgeback was one of my favourite trail runs in the area. I loved it because it was so runnable compared to so many of the trails that are so steep and have gorgeous views at a summit but are too steep to actually run (for me). This one is truly trail running, lots of rolling ups and downs, plenty of root/rock sections but mostly runnable and beautiful thru the trees. Lots of beautiful boardwalks too. I'll definitely be coming back to this one!

Lots of colorful wild flowers, decent half day hike. Keep an eye open for bears, we came across one a few KMs in.

A beautiful climb and a little off the beaten track so maybe not as busy as other trails. We were trail running, went up and down it twice. It was a nice change from Prairie Mountain because even though the altitude gain is about the same as Prairie, a much greater proportion of it is runnable (for me anyways!), both up and down. Also loved seeing Mouse Mtn etc from a different angle.

Great trail for a beginner seeking a challenge. I’m new to hiking so the incline was difficult, but worth it for the views. The path along the river was cool and all the wildflowers are in bloom right now. Agree with a user below, path is very poorly marked. Most of the mountain bikers were gone by the time we started at 2pm.

Great trail for dogs!

Nice and quiet. No summit, just a hiking loop.

Excellent easy to moderate day-hike. We did the Ridgeback in and the Tom Snow ( less up and down) out. By the time we were done, I was bagged... that's what happens as you get older.

Great quick trail. Some nice views. Keep your head up for bikers!

One of my favorite early season hikes. Great trail, wonderful views, lovely spring wild flowers. How is it that I never heard of this hike before now.

Great trail....I did this one last weekend....Pretty clean all the way up, except for when you get to the Cox Hill NE Summit marker on the map...You lose the trail at that point due to snow pack coverage...If you're "Trail Running" I'd be cautious as there is a lot of loose rock on sections of the path that have the steepest incline/decline, pick your path carefully....Overall, highly recommend it.

Good hike with a nice Riverview and a couple spots of incline for challenge.

Great hike, took the dog - first hike of the season so we were looking for something easy-moderate and this was perfect! Relatively easy to follow, great view points as well as you get right in on the river and the dog loved the icy-bath to cool her down at the tail-end.

Easy walk with the kids. A little wet and muddy in spots

Very good hike, steady slope for most of the way. There are a few lookout spots on the way to the top that houses an amazing view of the kananaskis country area! When I went there was a tremendous amount of snow about 3/4 of the way up, but it just added to the challenge. The view at the top is gorgeous. You will get a beautiful sight of the mountain ridge to the west. Overall it was a great hike, would definitely recommend to the experienced hiker!

As of May 15, there was still quite a bit of snow on the trails towards the top

Good for trail running as well. A few muddy spots but overall very good.

Biggest issue with this trail was how poorly it was marked. Often got on to another path... or maybe it wasn’t even a path??.. not sure. If there were path signs/markers they were on the ground buried under over growth. I thought it was a beautiful hike, with very few other hikers which was nice. You could really hear the sounds of the forest. ... but definitely needs some marker upgrade.

Trail is a little muddy and parts still have snow but over all a great day. Definitely and easy walk so good for beginners dogs and children

This was an amazing trail to snowshoe. We arrived at 7.45am and were the only two on the trail until the last kilometre or two. It was so peaceful. I’m not a fit person so was worried I wouldn’t manage this hike, however, I managed it well with regular breaks! It took us about 5 hours to complete (baring in mind my fitness, stopping for photos, one proper 15 minute break for tea and walking through deep snow). My legs were killer by the end!

A lot of it was pathed for us by previous snowshoers, however, the path suddenly stopped and we ended up fending for ourselves for a while and took a couple of wrong turns. Thankfully the app helped us get back on track. The full thing ended up taking us 13km!

The sites were insanely beautiful. Particularly at sunrise. Ending at the river was a treat and a nice way to finish. Will definitely be back in the summer!

Side note - the camping parking lot was closed. We ended up ditching the car by the gate and this seemed to be ok as when we returned there were 6-7 cars there too.

Took the snowshoes made the east end of Sulphur a bit easier to walk. Beauty day Jan 15

Dec 10/17. Beautiful views of mountains and river. Glad we had micro spikes. Easy to follow trail however gets a little confusing at the end down by the river. we ended up tromping through the campground to get back to our car.

Beautiful hike.

Great views up near Moose Mountain Road, and down through the Riverview Trail. Hiked this loop Nov 14/17 - snow was packed down enough on the trail that you don’t need spikes or snowshoes.

This really is a great intermediate hiking trail. Very beautiful and some sections and serene.

Need better signs, try to read the map while in intersection (take pictures at entrance, some signs are broken). Overall pretty good hike for all ages.

Slow steady climb. Nice day and a nice panoramic view at the rock cropping summit. Wonderful place to enjoy lunch. Have not spent much time in the area. Neat to see Moose Mountain from the Cox Hill vantage point.
