The first 1/2 of this hike is steep and very exposed, and thus was more difficult than I expected. Take water. That said, the scenery is absolutely fantastic. I loved the hike. It would have been 5 stars, but the trail ends a mile before the falls, which was a bit of a letdown. Looked like you could buschwhack it over to them without too much difficulty, but this was the last hike of a 2 week hiking trip and we just weren't up to it. The falls themselves are massive, as can be seen in the photos. But most of them don't do justice to the amphitheater shaped valley itself. It's really spectacular.

Hiked 1st week of June, 2017, and trail was almost entirely clear of snow, with some easily passable patches. Also ran into a grizzly right at the trailhead.

What an absolutely fantastic hike. The weather was perfect, and aside from 2 other couples, we were the only people we saw for almost 4 hours. The hike was moderate, but offered many wonderful views and a vast assortment of wildlife, game trails and tracks, and flowers and foliage. Although the signage is plentiful at the head of the trail, you have to keep your wits about you when venturing to the Deer Ridge 'summit', as we were turned around a few times, turning the 6 km hike into a 7.5 km hike lol. All in all we honestly couldn't have asked for a better place to find some peace outside of the busy city. We'll be back for sure.

Great hike and lots of mosquitoes loved it!

It's not easy. Not for the squeamish. The chain section is hard if your scared of heights but you feel really alive after. the pay off is great. Allow for 6 hours wether you do the loop or out and back. Wear good comfortable shoes.

Although this was difficult for me as someone who doesn't hike too often the views from the top are just spectacular and something that needs to be experienced.

Great hike. Not too busy. The views at the top are awesome with Mount Rae and glacier being the highlight. Highly recommend.

Steep, bring extra water especially since there's not much shade. Great views! ☀️

Great Hike and camp adventure. Very steep grades on the way in but offset by awesome views as you reach the top. Lake is very nice but if you are camping as we did, get there early. There is lots of people showing up through out the day and the best spots are few.

Great hike, snow for the final 1.5km through the meadow. Lots of wildflowers already.
