We hiked from the Barrier Lake parking lot up to the lookout and back down without doing the loop in 3.5hrs. The trail is extremely icy for the last 1km so I highly recommend cleats and hiking poles. There is a second lookout you can climb to but due to wind and the amount of ice was not accessible for us. Overall this is a great hike and I highly recommend for a quick short day trip. It gives you incredible views at the top that do not disappoint! I would rate it on the easy side of moderate and would say it's one of my favourites for sure!
We hiked the fescue loop today. Saw quite a few mule deer, bugs and birds. Bathroom stops along the way which was nice. A pretty easy 5km through the Alberta grasslands (although you're basically walking through a cut path surrounded constantly by cow poop). A few little steep parts but nothing too challenging.

Great hike! Lots of snow on April, so wear appropriate gear. Amazing views!
