We hiked from the Barrier Lake parking lot up to the lookout and back down without doing the loop in 3.5hrs. The trail is extremely icy for the last 1km so I highly recommend cleats and hiking poles. There is a second lookout you can climb to but due to wind and the amount of ice was not accessible for us. Overall this is a great hike and I highly recommend for a quick short day trip. It gives you incredible views at the top that do not disappoint! I would rate it on the easy side of moderate and would say it's one of my favourites for sure!

wait for the snow to melt.... we blazed a trail through 4ft deep snow. added a good two hours

Nice and close to the city, lots of ups and downs. A pretty decent view from the top. We went on a Saturday in April and we only saw 3 other groups of people on the whole trail, that part was nice as our dog likes to be off leash.

We did this yesterday after snowy night. A fantastic hike. The snow was thigh deep at certain places. Continue scrambling after the last cairn to walk on the narrow ridge to Wasootch Tower. It took us almost 10 hours return trip.

Lots of mud/snow right now (April) but I really enjoyed the trail! Really accessible for newbies, the woods felt lovely, and the occasional view. All that, and it's just an added bonus it's a 5 minutes drive from my home!

Did this hike today. Gorgeous weather.
Slippery in spots!
"Crowd" thins significantly out after upper falls.

Had a great time climbing this one. Short but steep. Great views at the top.

little bit muddy in one spot but a great hike and beautiful view

We hiked the fescue loop today. Saw quite a few mule deer, bugs and birds. Bathroom stops along the way which was nice. A pretty easy 5km through the Alberta grasslands (although you're basically walking through a cut path surrounded constantly by cow poop). A few little steep parts but nothing too challenging.

Such an amazing hike, especially knowing your destination is an unreal cave with outstanding views. Don't forget your head lamp
