Great views of Minnewanka for majority of the hike - it's at lot of kms but not technically hard. We did it in about 7 hours with a long break.. trail was in good condition, had to "move" the big horn sheep off the trail with loud noises.. no berrys or signs of bears yet....

No snow no mud. The lookout was beautiful. It was relatively an easy.

Very nice trail, good views of the lake at various points. One icy stretch but otherwise easy to traverse.

Nice sunset walk just before dinner, a great way to close the day after long hiking elsewhere. Practical if you are staying at the campsite closeby. However, I wouldn't make a detour for it.

Winter hike that was nicely traversable. Not icy, just hard packed snow and a good trail to follow. Fairly flat the whole way and great views of a bluebird sky.

Hiked this trail in late August. It's a nice, easy walk around the lake through a forest. The views are supposed to be beautiful, but there was still a lot of smoke from the wildfires when we were there.

starts from lake minnewanka. from the parking lot to the trailhead is roughly 2km. easy to get to. The trail is fairly easy with not much elevation gain. huge drop on the one side down to the river. pretty cool. bring bear spray! came around the corner and ran into a massive grizzly sitting on the trail! bluff charged for a hundred feet or so. But the other times I've gone, the trail ends at a beauty spot where you go down to a bend in the river. super chill spot and quiet from people. but seriously watch for bears. fairly easy hike and to get to the end and back is roughly 3 hours. definitely recommend

Hike starts along the lake before heading into the woods and follow a stream. It is an out and back trail that is fairly level. There were people near the lake but no one on the trail through the woods at a 9:40 start. The trail ends at a dry stream bed that you can take down to the active stream. We hiked during Sept perhaps the second stream is active in the Spring. There was a bear restriction requiring groups of 4 and bear spray. We found another couple to hike with in order to comply. Our hike was September 12, 2017 9:40am-11:40am. There was a large parking lot that had room at 9:40.

Did the first half of the trail in April to the base of the Aylmer Pass trail. Loved the scenery - saw lots of deer and goats (and no bears!). Will definitely be coming back to do it again in September!

Enjoyed this hike very much. Beautiful views from the bridge and lovely place for a rest by the river before turning back.

Easy trail, good for a lazy rest day. Pretty views of the river and lake.

This is a great hike if you wanna get away from the crowds. It's also a very easy stroll around the lake. The views are certainly amazing in all directions. When you are finished take a drive up to lake minnewanka which is nearby (5km up the road).

Très jolie balade avec mes enfants de 4 et 6 ans. Beau souvenir

Great views alongside the lake and from the lookout. The path is well marked, with few opportunities to get lost. Be careful though, this is grizzly bear country.

Amazing day trip

Johnston Canyon, is the hike, which takes one along the waterfalls, lime stone rock tunnels & caves, steep canyons and blue-green pools at the end of the hike. Our highlight of the day we so a BEAR and cub.

Breathtaking views the entire way to the bridge. Very easy trail for me and my 9 yr old.

This was one of my favorite trail, the lookout is absolutely stunning but be aware that there are tics in the lookout, my friend and I catched some because we layed down to look at the view.

A beautiful lake with many activities including a lake cruise and kayaking. A great picnic spot. You can hike around the entire lake, but it would probably take you a long time. There is also a trailhead to Stewart Canyon on the Lake Minnewanka trail.
