This is a nice trail, with an impressive waterfal as the reward. There are some muddy spots, and several places where you cross small streams, but it can all be done with dry feet. Closed-toe shoes are a must. I hiked it on a nice Saturday afternoon, and the trail was packed with people. Hiking it counter clockwise gives you an easier climb, with a steeper descent.

Great water track with romantic fairytale forest and a lot of turtles and small water snakes. Peaceful ride on the river.

Probably medium difficulty. Some parts washed away. Somewhat steep. Beautiful trees. Lots of shade.

Just exploring a trail that is above Dragalevski monastery. Not terribly steep. Quite rocky, so hiking boots a good idea. Very shady. The dog loved it. Looks like there are wild strawberries.

I did this from the Aleko Hut which is easily accessible by the chairlift or bus 66 on the weekend. The climb from the Dragalevski bus stop (bus 93) was tracked separately. Makes for a superb day of climbing. I read somewhere Cherni Vrah (Черни Врьх) is the second windiest peak in Bulgaria. It is windy, I was almost blown over stopping for a drink of water and standing upright. And headwind on the uphill! Took a short cut down to the chairlift at the recommendation of a Bulgarian friend I made Alex. Fantastic day out and so close to the city!

Great!

Definitely would recommend this hike. It's really two parts, the first easy and flat and the second a very difficult hike up the wooded side of the hill. Lots of trail searching but a spectacular view from the top and really interesting and enormous rocks, as if they've been placed there on purpose. Here's more detail: If you want to feel like a villager on a hike, this is the trail. It's an old goat path that has fairly recently been marked and added to an official list of points of interest. The trail is fairly well marked with signs pointing the way, blue and white blazes, red and white plastic ties on trees, and sometimes yellow spray paint on trees and rocks. Occasionally, though, you'll find yourself at a marker looking for the path, because the path itself is almost non-existent. My wife and I had several times where we had to look around for a minute to find which direction we were supposed to go. We always managed to find it no problem in the end. The first section is on a flat dirt path, but the real fun starts when you leave the path. There is an incredibly steep climb for around a mile with almost no visible path (even though this part is very well marked and easy to navigate), meaning you're clutching on to trees and rocks for support. The view from the top, however, is breathtaking and certainly worth it. There is even a spot for a tent behind the rocks, so overnight camping is possible and recommended.

One of the most beautiful peaks in Bulgaria visible all along the way up.

Hiked over the mountain hiking up the south side towards the north and down the usual path in the main map shown here. Beautiful and strenuous hike.
