After leaving the stoney shoreline, you will hike through overgrown bush and scrub for the first half mile. The trail has not been maintained since hurricane IRMA in 2017. Local hikers have lain cairns to the obvious trail above. There are fabulous views of the whole Virgin Islands chain, US, British and Spanish islands, all the way to Puerto Rico on a clear day. Hard work on the steepest part, but worth the effort. second best hike in the BVI.

Splash of green in a land of blue. Park your car by Mountain Top Restaurant. Trail access is via unmarked gravel/dirt road farthest to the right. You will pass a property on the left prior to seeing the first sign indicating you are headed in the right direction. First gate access is to central, north & south trails. Nice walk in a tropical forest with some mud. Best view is actually through a gate to the left of the main gait to the highest point lookout tower. Worth some sweat.

The trail as of now is overgrown so badly that it's hard to find the trail. The difficulty is definitely hard, no way this is easy. Traversing overgrown jungles requires pants, shoes and a long sleeved shirt. Use GPU tracking from the very start. Use your judgement in trying to find where the actual trail is. I got lost on the way back and had to bushwhack my way out. It was doable if you're an experienced hiker, but I don't recommend getting lost in that jungles.

In all probability the only shaded trails on Tortola since the 2017 hurricanes. The BVI National Parks Trust has opened up the trails and done a pretty decent job of it. Covered the whole of the Central Trail, a section of the south Trail and full length of the North Trail with spurs in 2 1/4 hours with moderate heat, 86F. Approach was a bit muddy from recent rain. Trails were well drained and dry. One major blow-down needs to be cleared at 0.25 miles from the entry gate on the North Trail. Others are easily navigated. Signage is in place for all trail crossings, though some need to be secured. Overall, a good experience and well worth the time.
