Located in the great complex of the Serra Fina, the Pedra da Mina maintains the title of 4th highest and most expressive mountain in Brazil. Its ascent in just one day is quite arduous, hampered by rugged terrain with accumulated unevenness, water scarcity and very cold, making it a great challenge even for the most experienced trekkers.Show more

Pedra da Mina or Pico Pedra da Mina is the fifth highest mountain in Brazil and is located in Serra da Mantiqueira, on the border of the state of São Paulo with the state of Minas Gerais. At 2,998.39 m altitude (measured by satellite / GPS by IBGE in 20041), it is the culminating point of the Serra da Mantiqueira and the state of São Paulo, and the third highest mountain in the state of Minas Gerais. Its summit defines the triple motto of the municipalities of Queluz and Lavrinhas, state of São Paulo, with that of Passa Quatro, Minas Gerais, in the stretch of Mantiqueira known as Serra Fina, largely coinciding with the Alcalino Massif of Passa Quatro. Its exact coordinates are: -22º25'41 ", -44º50'34". The Peak of the Three States is a mountain at the top of which is the geographical border of the Brazilian states of Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo (respectively, Passa Quatro, Resende and Queluz). Its coordinates are: 22º 25 '24 "S and 44º 48' 48" W. It has an altitude of 2665 m and is located at the eastern end of Serra Fina, a section of the Serra da Mantiqueira, near the Mina Stone and Peak Black needles. The triple point of the currencies is marked at the summit by a small iron tripod drawn with the names of the three states in their respective directions.Show more
