#5 - Autour Ronquires
Bois de la HoussièreLength: 8.7 mi • Est. 4 h 1 m
Pleasant walk in the beautiful nature of Ronquires and its surroundings, renowned for its sloping surface. While the latter is not covered on this enjoyable trip, a visit to the elevators of world-renowned ships is worth it. The area we are crossing is very green with many hills, beautiful valleys and small typically Walloon villages. The tour begins in Virginal-Samme, a small hamlet near Ronquires. You have noticed that there was an industry here in the distant past, but that glory has since faded glory. Part of the hike therefore concerns the old Ecaussines-Requières - Tubize railway line. Via Ronquires, it crosses beautiful country roads and paths through the magnificent Bois de la Houssière where you can hike. The route also partly goes through the GR12. When we come back to Virginal-Samme, we will have to be careful when arriving at rue Emille Nils! After 130 m, it turns right onto what seems at first sight to be a "private" street. You really have to be practical on the residents' terrace. It is however a public road and the path continues in the bushes. A very pleasant walk in a beautiful region.
