Laneuville au Bois, known for being one of the most beautiful flowered villages during the good season is also one of my favorites. We wouldn't suspect it, but the church where the starting point is located is around 450 meters above sea level. It is therefore with immense pleasure that I came back and what can I say except with the beautiful fall colors…. wow! The many old buildings, located on a slope of the Deux Ourthes valley, lost in the middle of the Saint Hubert forest massif, and the preservation of the architectural framework are just remarkable for their beauty! I admit having a real crush on some limed buildings. Many wooden crosses and potales are also to be discovered in certain places of the territory. The ride that I propose to you will brighten up all your senses and you will ask for more :-) At the start of the walk, going down along the valley, the flora and fauna will reveal themselves in front of you. The place, very humid, is just splendid! Some traces of beavers are visible to a warned eye. A fairly sustained climb will follow, towards a panoramic point of view that I fell in love with when I first came. Under a strong wind, and in front of a breathtaking view, time will seem suspended. Between the rock of Coucou, the village of Lavacherie a little further, and the valley of the Ourthe as a whole, you will have a breathtaking panorama! Resuming the rest of the walk after this magical moment, you will descend slowly through superb woods typically Ardennes. The firs and other conifers are very beautiful, as well as many oaks and beeches. The ground is also a small treasure, many mushrooms and mosses create a somewhat mysterious atmosphere. A second stop is possible when you arrive at the Bivouac du Golet area. Benches and trunks are available for a stopover or a snack. (take your waste with you, there are no garbage cans, please respect nature) About 7 kilometers from the route, you will cross a wooded area that is particularly wild and humid, but so beautiful. Some slats in bad condition (be careful not to fall) are supposed to be there to avoid mud baths but it is not won. It is only 200 meters of crossing but sometimes playing the balancing act which can be worth a few good laughs as it was the case for us. Between fallen trees, muddy spots, and many branches on the ground, the place exudes an air of awesome mystery. The gentle melody of the “La Basseille” stream guides us towards its crossing. The song of birds near this water point is beautiful. The end of the walk is on a very flat and silent path, taking us to the village church, the starting point. In short, a truly rejuvenating walk in the calm of the Ardennes forests. No major difficulty, a nice walk to do with the family and with your doggie on a leash. Good walk ! Ps: Small message for the taste buds: in the village of Lavacherie, there is a butcher and a bakery, as in the past. I guarantee it's worth the trip! Enjoy your meal :-)Show more
