The walk along the Lontzenerbach is beautiful the whole year round because of its flora and fauna. However, the best time is between March and May, when wild daffodils are in bloom. The flowering time depends on how long and cold the winter was. One must know that the Hohnbacher narcissi unfold their yellow flowers much earlier than the better known wild daffodils of the northern Eifel. Incidentally, the Lontzenerbach is also referred to as Hohnbach.Show more

Not far from the German border is a rather unknown area with a gentle slope and elegant houses. The village of Hauset is at the back as the path turns into the beech bush, an exemplary forest preserve and one of the green lungs of Aachen nearby. Nevertheless, the forest has preserved a virginity that suggests at the slightest sound in the undergrowth or undergrowth scratching a squirrel or a hedgehog in the foliage. When leaving the forest, we walk past the stubble of a wheat field, down to Fossei and the spring stream of Göhl. The route runs under the famous Hammer Bridge, which in the 18th century was one of the largest bridge buildings in Europe. It was destroyed during the Second World War, later rebuilt for the high-speed train line. After the steep ascents and valleys, the landscape shows a new variant: Divided by fences and hedges, built with pretty houses and studs, horses have become home in Hauset. We take a little path around the pond and admire the views that end our walk through this authentic East Belgian village.Show more

The best time to do this hike is in April when the daffodils are in full bloom. This trail passes by beautiful fields covered in daffodils, wild garlic and Galmei violets.Show more
