Located in the northwest of Wallonia, the Pays des Collines is characterized by humble wooded peaks dominating the Hennuyer lowlands and the Flanders plain. Ferruginous sandstone helped protect the underlying layers from erosion. This acted on less protected areas, the Hills took shape. They therefore invite you to discover a generous and diverse nature where each season magnifies the forest and hedgerow landscapes. The magic of the castles of Anvaing and Berlière contributes to the pride of the territory. Life is also rich and punctuated by strong local traditions. Thus, throughout the year, folk festivals give pride of place to local products. More and more tourists come to discover this land of renowned gastronomy, unspoiled landscape and strong traditions. In order to protect these riches, the Pays des Collines Natural Park was created in 1997. It brings together the municipalities of Elleselles, Flobecq, Mont-de-l'Enclus, Frasnes-lez-Anvaing and Ath (Houtaing, Mainvault and Ostiches ). The Land of the Hills, more than a territory rich in its fauna and flora, is a land of know-how and inspiration.Show more

The Hauts-Pays Natural Park is located along the Franco-Belgian border, in the province of Hainaut, near Mons (city elected European Capital of Culture for 2015). It occupies part of the watershed that separates the two main hydrographic basins of the country: the Scheldt, via the Haine and the Meuse, via the Sambre in its French route. The Natural Park covers 6 municipalities (Honnelles, Dour, Quiévrain, Colfontaine, Frameries and Quévy) and also has remarkable biological interest. As proof, 11.5% of its territory (or 1,840 hectares) is classified Natura 2000. In a territory of more than 70% agricultural, there are obviously a large number of farms that contribute to the economic life of the region. Their products mix with the mouth-watering products of the many artisans who populate the Natural Park. Restaurateurs, chocolate makers, brewers, bakers, pork butchers,… all contribute to giving an authentic image of the Park's territory. In addition to its landscape and biological wealth, the Hauts-Pays Natural Park also has points of cultural interest. As such, let us cite a very well-known figure: the poet Emile Verhaeren. Between 1899 and 1914, he stayed at Roisin. He came to a farmhouse at the edge of the Angre woods to seek calm and inspiration. Today, these buildings remain on the provincial site Le Caillou and house the Espace muséal Emile Verhaeren. Do not miss this visit.Show more
#3 - Plaines de l'Escaut Natural Park
Hainaut, Belgium

The Plains of the Scheldt Natural Park covers 26,500 ha in six municipalities (42 ancient villages): from west to east, Rumes, Brunehaut, Antoing, Péruwelz, Beloeil and Bernissart. Heart of nature, the Natural Park is located in the south of Picardy Wallonia, close to Tournai, Lille or Mons. It draws on the Franco-Belgian border to form the Hainaut cross-border natural park with the Scarpe-Escaut Regional Natural Park. A European river, the Scheldt enters the Plains of the Scheldt Natural Park in Belgium and crosses it for 15 km. But the entire river alluvial plain has left its mark on this territory. 63 kilometers of canals and 400 km of hiking routes, wetlands and marshes take over from the Scheldt for the promenade and the harmony of the landscape. The Natural Park presents a wide variety of landscapes and biotopes. Forest stands, hedgerow meadows and open agricultural areas follow one another. The tadpole willows punctuate the horizontality of the look. The Pays des Mâchons (masons) of Rumes, the Lesdain nurseries, the Château d'Antoing and Beloeil, the Grand Large de Péronnes, the Iguanodon Museum in Bernissart or the Marshes of Harchies constitute a range of inexhaustible discoveries . Without forgetting the forest stopover and the Promenoir des cimes of the Maison du Parc, a real gateway to the territory.Show more
