It was a cool, about 11C, day and light rain all day but what a beautiful hike. Highly recommended.

Beautiful and easy walk around the old town. View of old historic buildings and of course the famous Golden Roof.

The hike recommends that the summit can be reached in 1.5 hrs and rated as easy on the blogs. We reached in 2 and I wouldn’t agree it was easy. It’s uphill and very rocky, so definitely a leg burn. The views of the reservoir and surrounding Alps are fantastic throughout the hike. Started late and did not have to deal with crowds at the suspension bridge.

Cool hike and great to do! Finally a bit of nature in this very urban city!

I feel like this is one of the more doable hikes I've encountered in the German/Austrian Alps. It will take you about 1.5 hours to the peak and while it goes up non-stop, it is rarely really steep. The food at the restaurant is really good, and if you go early, there won't be too many people either. The views to the German side are quite nice, but the one to the Austrian are absolutely spectacular. You will have clear views, among others, to the Großvenediger and Großglockner.

Very popular canyon hike, go early to beat the crowds. It is a one way hike and at the end hold on to your ticket to get a free bus ride back to your car. Deutscher Peter is a good restaurant at the end and the bus stops right in front. You can hike further to Bodental and have great food and also free bus trip back to your car.

Lovely quiet route that is well marked. Also known as stadwanderweg 1/1a with helpful signs. The top is busy because there are buses and groups but the trails and vineyard roads are super quiet. The forest section can be muddy when it rains because you are climbing. Lots of optional side trips from this route. Great view from the top!

This is one of the very few real hikes in the area surrounding Vienna (which is a very flat area overall). It's an easy hike with almost no challenges, except a few steeper sections. Most of the trail is actually paved (and the first third is on a street). There aren't too many people hiking up there, but on the top it is extremely crowded - Kahlenberg is known as the best place to see Vienna from the top, which is why many people drive up. So while I only saw about 10-15 people on the way up, there were about 250 people on the top (there was also a wedding). The view, however, is indeed great, and worth the hike.

Wonderful mountain scenery. Loved spotting the mountain goats way up by the rocks in Ladider Valley. The gravel road most of the way is a bit hard on the feet after awhile, but the hike is still very enjoyable. I really like hiking through the Ahornboden at the end. The 3 kilometers on the main road go quick.

It was a nice hike, especially through the gorge. About 1/3 of the hike is on a wide forest road, 2/3 on a well marked pathway. The information desk in Scharnitz was very helpful and provide free maps and recommendations for the hike.
