Excellent hike with great views of Salzburg. Slow and steady with some rocky and rooty sections. Start at the town, the walk down crosses a road at about 1/3 of the way.

latter half of the trail is outdated path is closed and there are signs saying it isn't safe. was ok to navigate - had to scramble across the stream/river several times. first half of the trail is fantastic (and well signed).

For a longer hike with a bit of a break in the middle and some additional great views, you can also divert onto the Rundweg trail about 2/3 of the way up (turn right to hit some of the more dramatic viewpoints first) and either make the full circuit before continuing on this trail or take any of the trails that are signed "Gaisberg-Spitze" when you get bored and are ready to start climbing upward again! The Rundweg trail is an old road and it's relatively flat and wide - can also be a nice rest for your knees on the way down! This detour will add 1-1 1/2 hours to the hike depending on your exact path and speed. There are also additional bus stops at many places where the trail intersects with the road.

It is definitely not moderat. The official signs says “Black”. I had brought my kids and had to turn around because other hikers advised me not to go with my kids

Amazing view from the top! Short but fun hike, not too difficult - I'd say it's moderate rather than hard. Great choice for those without their own transport, since there's a bus stop at both ends. Watch out for the broken fence at the top - you have to get off the trail and be careful for a short moment to omitt it. It was a week ago, though, maybe they've fixed it already.

The hike is beautiful I recommend! However, as I did during a shower, I could not see the landscape. In my opinion this hike is of moderate difficulty because it is very short

This is a good training hike in the Austrian Alps. Although not technically challenging, it is a strenuous climb up from Arthurhaus to the Torsaule, especially in the heat of day. There is no shade, and although the trail is well signed, you will end up scrambling a little in places which could potentially lead to injuries. The route back down is a lot faster, and it's possible to twist an ankle if not careful. The views are spectacular and if you're lucky you will see Marmot's and Chamois... The route passes through alpine pastures, shale slopes and onwards up to rocky trails.

Short but challenging hike that was really accessible from the city! Beautiful views, especially from the top.

Short but challenging, rewarding and well maintained. Hike directly up the mountain. What a view!

Nothing special. Good view on top only...

We walked more than this trail- and it was so rewarding! From Mirabellplatz bus stop we took Bus 150 to he Volksschule Gnigl stop. From there we walked through the park, took a left on the street Eichstrabe, and continued up the steps about 100 meters down the street on the right. What followed was a steep, incredibly rewarding hike through the forest (follow the signs for Gaisburg). Bring lots of water! You can also take the bus back down from the top. Check the poster at the bus stop at the summit to check the bus times (they're usually about an hour apart). Enjoy the wildflowers, a beautiful view, and a good workout!

7 of us walked from Salzburg to the trail head and made the journey up the mountain! Cloud cover made the views a little underwhelming, but the hike itself was extremely enjoyable. There was a long section through a riverbed with small wooden stairs and river crossings that were a lot of fun. Take your time and enjoy the beautiful forest!
