Length: 9.1 mi • Est. 5 h 39 m
The Zittauer Hütte is located at 2,328 m above the Wildgerlostal in the Pinzgau region of Salzburg. Located at the foot of the Reichenspitz group, the hut is an ideal starting point for hiking and mountain tours in the westernmost area of the Hohe Tauern National Park. Popular destinations are the Wildkarspitze (3,073 m, 3.5 h), the Rosskopf (2,845 m, 1.5 h) and the Wildgerlosspitze (3,276 m, 5 h). Sometimes the path leads steeply up the rocks over stone steps with safety ropes. The exertion is worth it, because after overcoming this last key point it is only about 100 hm to the Zittauer Hütte and the cool water of the Lower WildgerlosseeShow more

Length: 5.2 mi • Est. 3 h 5 m
The Kimmler waterfalls are a popular excursion destination and, with a height of 385m, are the highest waterfalls in Austria. The way back is via the Alte Tauernweg, a historical path that dates back to the 16th century. The Alte Tauernweg is not as crowded as the main path right by the waterfall, and those who like it a little quieter can catch a glimpse of the waterfalls from time to time.Show more

There are two routes to choose from: the classic from Krimml to Passau (310 km) or the Tauern route with 270 km. It is advisable to go counterclockwise. About 70% of the way is paved. The route runs mainly on bike paths and quiet side streets. There are only a few inclines. Green signs with "Tauern Cycle Path" point the way in both directions, from the mouth of the Salzach into the Inn, but the path is marked as the Inn Cycle Path.Show more
