Very nicely maintained trail. The guideposts are excellent, with accurate time estimates. The trail is across the KitzSki ski area, so much of it is exposed to lots of sunshine. The lakes are snow making lakes, and manmade, but still quite pretty. It’s about 8.5 miles round trip to do the out-and-back to Pengelstein. A nice day hike!

Easy hike in October

beautiful scenery. easy hike

To start this review, this hike is definatley not easy. I'm not sure how and if the app ca change this but is definatley moderate. I hesitate to put difficult only because the length isn't horrible but the hike itself was challenging, more so than an easy rating would lead a hiker on to a potential trail choice. The hike starts with a sharp 1000 ft decent in the first .6 miles with a series of stairs. after this, you hike along the glacier for about a mile or so before you come to a 1200 vertical ascent. At this stage, the trail, sometimes a challenge to find, involves scrambling over loose rocks or boulders up 25-50 feet, steep switch backs, and quite an extensive section of cables that assist you over boulders that drop downward towards the glacier below. Once you make it to the top, you are able to enjoy a level final mile (or so) back to the starting point. Even while this hike was not at all what we expected, it definatley was gorgeous and will go down as one of my favorite, most memorable hikes.

Very beautiful view! You should be kicking, because the whole way is rocky. The last 300 meters of altitude are very steep and the track is not really visible, but still easy to walk on.

The north and west sides of the loop are absolutely stunning, it's definitely worth the climb. The east side of the loop feels like your going through a crater on the moon with all the rocks (I was not a fan of that part). you can take the chairlift to the starting point, it cost 12 euro or 17 if you also wanted a ride down. Start early it's a longer hike.

Wow, what a spectacular hike! The three lakes you will encounter, especially, in fact, Seebensee, are beautiful. You will have views almost all the way on the Zugspitzmassiv from the Austrian side. But the best part is probably the way from the Coburger Hütte to the Tajatörl, as the hut and Drachensee become smaller and smaller underneath you as you ascend upward. The trail is in perfect condition and just lots of fun. One of my favorite hikes ever in the German/Austrian Alps.

Very steep hike with a well worn in trail that is fairly easy to follow. Be cautious that the views from the top are not as great when it is cloudy, but must be spectacular during clear weather.

Trail is in good shape, moderately trafficked.. The hut was excellent. Though rather challenging, take the time to climb some of the beautiful peaks at the top of the valley.

Phenomenal views from the top. Bit of a scramble after the saddle point, but well marked throughout. About 2/3 to the top there is a pretty exposed section of gravel that's somewhat difficult to get traction on. Would recommend bringing trekking poles.

Have only walked a section of the loop Very beautiful scenery.

Very cool hike ... I started with the Eisenau section, tough hike upwards, goes for a while but some beautiful views over the lakes. You're rewarded at the top with...a pasture of cows! Walk down the trail a little and there's a cute restaurant you can grab a beer at for your troubles. The hike I took back, Burbaug I think, goes through some random fields, it was a little tough to follow where the trail was but I downloaded the Alltrails map on here and that really helped. Then you follow along a waterfall/stream the way down, really pretty. The last part, Unterach you're kind of just following along the road to get back, but looking over at the gorgeous water in the lake makes it okay. I took this pretty slow, stopped for a beer and lots of pictures, took me about 5 hours. There's a lot of trails out here, as a foreigner slightly tough to know where to go so I really appreciated this trail being on Alltrails.

This is a very steep and rewarding hike. You can take the switch backs to make it a bit easier but it will add more time.

Very nice not overly challenging trail. Views from the top are excellent, but fairly limited on the way up. Access road provides an easier alternative for the return.
