Explore the most popular wildlife trails in Australia with hand-curated trail maps and driving directions as well as detailed reviews and photos from hikers, campers and nature lovers like you.

This took us 3 1/2 hours to complete. It was a great track with some steep incline and steep declines, as long as you are fit and healthy it should be fine. There are some beautiful viewing vantage points. The second half of the Trail has some longer flat walks. Don’t forget to stop and take in the views when you see them. If you’re doing the hike on the weekend and finish at Brooklyn make sure you look up the train or bus schedule when we did it the trains were not running on weekends however the buses were coming every 30 minutes to take you back to Cowan . All in all a beautiful hike with good views and variety.

Views in all directions, easy to do over 2 days. Don’t be fooled by the weather, it’ll be 18 degrees during the day and burn your scalp then drop below 0 at night even in January. Add in Mt Twynam as a side track to make it Australians 3 highest.

I would suggest taking the route through palm jungle and burning palms rather than Garrawarra ridge. A lot more varied terrain and also access to figure 8 pools

Well maintained and diverse track. I especially like the track between Garie beach to Otford, lush terrain and beautiful beaches.

Part of this is beautiful, part very boring. Don't do the loop, do an in and back along the river. The top part of a boring fire trail with no view.

never expected to see a lobster!

Nice easy grade hike with lots of switch-backs. Some very nice views out around Bare Rocks.

Really lovely walk with proper scrambly bits and rock face to climb across. Even in the rain is lovely, although the downhill sections do turn into little waterways and get quite slippery if it does happen to rain on you.

great walk considering you are still in a built up area you can hear distant traffic most of the way thru

The first half is incredible with amazing views and steep challenging ascents, but the second half... although had some nice views, got very boring as it was just an off-road for vehicles. Definitely worth it though!

Pretty good walk some good look out points, and little stream areas, would recommend

The only way to do this hike is up super early with a head torch to see the sun rise and be rewarded with spectacular views on your decent. Not an easy track but worth it.

The climb to cathedral peak was a great challenge. Very few people on the trails. The view was incredible with the setting sun. Will be back soon to explore more of this incredible place.

Of note, be safe on the roads leading up to it. Pack a torch as sun sets fast in winter. Always make sure you have enough water and bring a map or compass just in case.

Magic place

Great trail. A bit of hard work, but well worth the view once you make it up!

good for hiking. nice view

What a magnificent trail. Perfect workout to and from and when you get to Pearl Beach do yourself a favour have a swim at probably the best beach on the coast. Great day.

A family friendly fire trail walk most of the way, with the chance for a little more once you reach the water. I would like to try this again on a mountain bike.

trail running

Just did part of it today. Trail running is good. Youll get some pavement. First tip! Ask for directions or download the trail and follow. Second tip. When at the first sandy beach you can run all the way towards the end near the rock cliffs. You want to find a trail that to the right going up to the houses. The one i found had a blue rope you could use to assist you up. Once on top you will be on a flat surface between the cliffs and houses for beautiful views. I turned around after about 3 miles 5k due to high winds and i forgot a light jacket or wind breaker. Awesome views! Will finish next time.

very nice trail, long but good

This walk is so far the best I went to..really enjoyed the nature and the bush !!

stunning walk ... I just wondering how can you give 1pt or 3 pt for this beautiful track ... only minus could be because you can meet a lot of pople nearby Echo Pt ... guys wake up! I prefer more hidden tracks in Blue Mts like Blackheath area but this one is perfect for first time to fall in love with this stunning mountains!! So many lookouts nice forest rock formations!! Must to do for everyone!!

This is a challenging but manageable hike. It took us 4 hours including a few stops and lunch up at the top. You need to keep your eye on the track as it’s a rock scramble for a large section. Stunning views at the top. We did it as an out and back from the carpark not as a loop as the map suggests.

Leave your car at the top of Glenraphel drive and walk down the dirt road (approx 2ks to the Golden Stairs). The dirt road is fine if you have a 4wd, but if you have a car, it's probably better to leave it as the road is not that well maintained.

The walk itself is worth it. The views from the top of the ruined castle (big rock formation) is awesome. apart from the Golden Stairs, the walk is easy. But going down and up the GS is tough going (only 800m, but very steep).

1hr 40m each way.
