Started at the Stanwell end, past the train station. Not long after climbing up, you come to a Y and can either go left or right. If you go left ((like I did) Not the Forest Path) it’ll take you down into the valley. That’s where the swimming hole is and a couple of waterfalls. It had rained last night so there were small sections of the trail that were muddy. Once you cross the creek, you hit a lot of sections that are overgrown/blow downs. The trail is still manageable and is a pretty decent walk. I’ll be hitting it again, taking the Forest Path where the overlooks are.

Beautiful waterfall and at night you can see glow worms. You can extend the walk to the horseshoe and Lady barron falls.

Awesome trail not too steep or too long just right. Some great scenery along the way and lots of wild life. Tracks were washed out in places but overall relatively good and easy.

Great trail not far from the city. Take bug repellent, wear long sleeves, pants, and supportive footwear. Overall worthwhile experience!

always a beautiful easy walk, rainbow fall is amazing

Great trail after some rain

Recommend for confident people with good fitness level, most is moderate but some parts that are very uneven, steep and rocky which caught me off guard. Beautiful scenery and very peaceful walk overall!

gradually gets steeper the closer you get to the top, bum sliding is suggested on the way down ( much quicker than walking down with less falls)

Incredible waterfall!

challenging but so worth it !!

Première partie à l'abris, mais bouchée niveau vue, puis la deuxième partie est magnifique et offre un panorama splendide. Beaucoup de marches. Environ 1600 je pense.

This trail is awesome, esp after the rains we finally had. The waterfalls (I believe there are 6 but you cross them several times at different levels) and the creeks were flowing really well. Made the crossings a little tricky but only one wet foot, so not complaining. The views are spectacular and it’s nicely covered too. Some fallen trees added an extra dimension in negotiating the trail, but again, all do-able. We took out time admiring the views and taking photos (we saw a lot of wildlife) and managed to finish it in 5 hours. The café near the main outlook provided well deserved (we thought anyway) and much needed refreshments. Can recommend this walk, and we’ll be back!

This trail was quite the undertaking for me and my girlfriend. We started it from Alice Springs on August 18th. We completed it on August 31st (a day earlier then planned, but we had to rush because a broken tent zip is quite a problem on this trail). Two major things to note in my opinion, the flies on the Larapinta was the hardest to contend with. The second thing is that you just cannot trust the water source recorders on section 9. TAKE ENOUGH WATER FOR THE ENTIRE SECTION WITH YOU. It was amazing, and I would happily do it again!

Lovely little walk

Had a great time on this hike. It’s a steady but not too strenuous climb from the restaurant at the top of the chairlift to the summit. The track consists of a metal board walk for most of the way and then a well-formed path to the very top of Australia. Easily done in about 5-6 hours (depending on fitness and how long you spend at the top). We timed it so we could have lunch at the top of the mountain. Some spectacular landscapes to take in on the way plus some awesome views. As a bonus, you can get a beer at Thredbo when you get back as a reward for all your hard work!

Absolutely...incredible. On a cloudy or foggy day the scenery is absolutely amazing. This hike is NOT moderate however with some rope climb and rock scramble sections. Getting halfway gives you amazing views of a lake nestled on the side of the mountain as well as lakes and mountain ranges on the horizon. Amazing.
