The Bibbulmun Track is one of the world's great long distance walking trails, stretching 1000km from Kalamunda on the outskirts of Perth, to the historic town of Albany on the south coast. The Bibbulmun Track offers a wide range of experiences, from a gentle stroll to enjoy the peace and beauty of the natural environment, to an epic eight week adventure camping out at the 49 campsites and enjoying the hospitality of nine communities along the way. Those that walk every step of the way can be registered as end-to-enders. Given the length of the full track, the route has been broken down into nine official sections, this is the eighth section starting in the small coastal town of Walpole and stretches 123km to finish in Denmark. This section is known to provide a variety of diverse landscapes from coastal systems and heathland to ancient Gondwanan forest. Once you pass Peaceful Bay, there is a particularly challenging stretch with a lot of distance to cover across a variety of terrain including a long walk on soft sand on Mazzoletti Beach, across sand dunes, and along heathland and forest tracks. You will be rewarded however with some highlights along the way including beautiful views from the Hilltop lookout, the Giant Tingle Tree, a stop at the Frankland River campsite (voted best on track), crossing Sappers Bridge, the Tree Top Walk, Conspicuous Beach and Conspicuous Cliffs, crossing the Irwin Inlet, wildlife around the Quarram Nature Reserve, Boat Harbour, and Mount Hallowell and Monkey Rock. Part of the Munda Biddi from Walpole Visitor Centre through the Valley of the Giants to the first shelter at Booner Mundak. Some stunning scenery through the tall forrests, but quite hilly and arduous. One needs to be reasonably fit to tackle this section. It passes along the banks of the Frankland river for a while which is very scenic. It also passes close to the Tree Top walk.Show more
