A great walk or ride around the river in Denmark. It takes in both sides of the river. In 1829 Dr Thomas Braidwood Wilson led an expedition into this district while his ship was laid up for repairs in Albany. Guided by a local Minang Aboriginal named Mokare, he named a number of landmarks including the Denmark River (after his friend and colleague Dr Alexander Denmark). This is a paved trail along the river. You will see animal sculptures, images of rabbits’ engraved in the stones, water lilies. After the walk, you can head up the street and take a coffee & cake in the Bakery (they also sell delicious bread). There are picnic tables near the river with great views.Show more
#2 - Bibbulmun Track: Denmark to Albany
Denmark, Western Australia, Australia

Length: 48.7 mi • Est. Multi-day
The Bibbulmun Track is one of the world's great long distance walking trails, stretching 1000km from Kalamunda on the outskirts of Perth, to the historic town of Albany on the south coast. The Bibbulmun Track offers a wide range of experiences, from a gentle stroll to enjoy the peace and beauty of the natural environment, to an epic eight week adventure camping out at the 49 campsites and enjoying the hospitality of nine communities along the way. Those that walk every step of the way can be registered as end-to-enders. Given the length of the full track, the route has been broken down into nine official sections, this is the last section starting in Denmark and covers just over 78km to complete the track in Albany's town centre. As the last section of the track, it sure packs a punch with a real wow-factor from magnificent coastal vistas and uninterrupted scenery. This section is roughly a five-day walk and some highlights include wildflower-filled heaths, isolated coves, coastal cliffs, the William Bay and Torndirrup National Parks, and as you walk through the West Cape Howe National Park at the southern most point of Western Australia, you'll also have views of the Albany and Grassmere wind farms capturing the strong winds of the southern ocean that power 80% of Albany’s electricity needs with clean renewable energy. This is a great trail taking in some great scenery, and using part of the Munda Biddi and Bibbulmun Trails. This is spectacular coastline. Starts at the Denmark Visitor Centre. Head down Ocean Beach Road for 6.3 km and turn right at Lights Road. After 4.2km turn left onto a gravel road heading towards Lights Beach. At the Car Park take the Munda Biddi Track along the coast which leads back to the gravel road in the William Bay National Park. Its great to backtrack and take a diversion to Waterfall Beach. After a swim in the Ocean one can take a shower under the fresh water in the waterfall. Head along the coast on the gravel road one comes out at the asphalt road and the Greens Pool Carpark. Visitors may like to take in the Elephant Rocks and the Beach here. Head back towards the highway for 4 km on the William Bay Road (asphalt) and turn right at Bylefeld Close. Keep following the Munda Biddi Trail Markers until McLeod road. At this point follow the highway for 300m and turn Right onto the Old Rail Trail (Denmark Nornalup Heritage Trail). Follow this gravel trail 8km back to Ocean Beach road in Denmark. Turn left and return to the Visitor Centre. By the end of 2013 there should be a new section of track which will start from Lights beach and head out along the edge of the coastline eventually coming out at Ocean Beach. It will add a great addition to this track.  Show more

Length: 1.9 mi • Est. 54 m
Karri Walk Trail Denmark is about 1.5 kliometers long and located near Denmark, Australia. The trail is great for walking and normally takes 1 hour or less. A short walk which starts quite close to the Denmark CBD on the corner of Barnett and Hollings Road. There is an entry pavilion at the start with a map of the various tree species. In the spring it is full of wild-flowers as well as a number of introduced garden species which have spilt over from nearby properties. The walk starts of with Paperbark on the left and Karri on the right. and progresses in to some mixed Yate and Marri. Then through some coastal heath until crossing Haire Street. It then progress though tall Karri Forrest for a few hundred metres until it comes out on the Old Rail Trail (Denmark Nornalup Heritage Trail). This is now a heritage precinct to where the old Post Office building (now a pre-school) as been moved. The end of this trail is at the Denmark Rivermouth Bridge near the caravan park. At this point it joins up with the Mokare Trail.Show more
