Stunning coastline, lots of variety

lovely fishing spot, nice & calm water at the beach. good place for sunset

Nice trail to do on a weekend and finish with a swim. The signage at the start is not particularly clear, but okay by the end.

Could you please note that the Noongar name you have given to Buckland hill is incorrect. Dwerda Weelardinup is the name of Cantonment Hill which is where the Navy Signal tower is. The correct name for Buckland Hill is Berrung-Guttuck which I think means place of memory or knowledge but please don't quote me. Check with Prof. Len Collard at Curtin perhaps. Info on the name provided by Daisy Bates from informant Baabur.

An easy walk for the most part, with a couple of short rocky sections. On our visit the harbour side beach was covered in seaweed, not the most pleasant walking surface.
According to Motion X we walked 4.77 km, climbed 150 m.
By the way, it's nowhere near Middleton Beach; 24 km by Road, according to Google Maps.

Great little gorge walk, recommended to go early morning or evening as no shade and can be hot. was lucky to see two black footed rock wallabies and an Osprey. Took our 12 year old and twin 8 year old kids and they were fine walking the full length.

This is also available as a free paper hand-out from the Rottnest Island Museum - however this smartphone version you some fascinating historical photo's.

As you walk the oldest continuously inhabited street in Australia, Vincent Way, view photographs of those who walked before; a horse and cart on Main Street, the Pilot crew at the Boathouse and women with parasols and corsets boarding the ferry in 1912.

We visited the area as part of the Cape to Cape Hike. We started with the Meelup Trail and thought that Bunker Bay was the prettiest beach ever... until we got to Smith's Beach. Wow - what a gorgeous place to visit. Sugarloaf was also very pretty in the late afternoon. I think the only thing prettier than the Northern section of this coastline is the Southern section - check out the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park - Augusta and Boranup guide (which should show on the Nearby Guides section).
