Loved this walk! Beautiful views, no trouble with signage (unlike many others), lovely little waterholes, fun scrambling around on the rock ledges and soaring rock faces. You do need good shoes as there are some loose rocks in areas. Highly, highly recommended.

Loved it... beautiful way to send an afternoon

Went into this not fully respecting the difficulty of the trail and overstating our experience level. Took about 5 hours and we got lost multiple times. Bring a reliable map to follow because there are so many hidden tracks that will lead you astray. Also if you’re going in winter, expect the creek to be about waist level deep on one of the crossings. If you’re not super experienced like myself, please go early in the morning to allow for some lost time trying to find the trail. Super fun but almost died.

Wouldn’t exactly list this one as easy. Was longer than 18km, and although the track started off pretty clear, once you get along the river there are patches that are hard to follow. There’s a patch where all these old trees and branches block the path- probably from the flood a few years ago- so you are forced to bush bash and make your own path for a while. We ended up a bit off track for a while due to this. The road walk at the end is a bit disappointing- and we didn’t time it right and ended up walking it in the dark. Not the walk I would recommend to do first, but if you’re looking for a trail you haven’t done before and are willing to be a bit creative in parts, this one is for you. There are some cool remnants of the mining days, and one pretty decent cave that we came across so keep your eyes peeled.

Great hike but wasn’t able to get to the top myself. Very steep rock scramble. Only well experienced or very capable should attempt

I enjoyed this walk. found a bit of single trail along the river bank. I followed the river bank most of way back. little bit of making your own way as no path to really follow. there is a main track here you can follow though. if you get the golf course do yourself a favour and turn back there. very boring and bland from then on. start from carpark at end of homestead road.

Great trail! It was pretty challenging particularly on the 3rd kilometre from the picnic area, spent almost 30 minutes on that steep elevation! Did 8 river crossings overall and my legs were drenched by the end of the day, but it was all worth it! I would tag this as a “difficult” track rather than “medium” tbh. Thanks to my partner who kept on pushing me to my limit, loved every bit!

Went on a sunny winters day, perfect weather and great views from the top. Track is very difficult to follow in some spots, thankfully had this app, otherwise I’d still be up there. Saw multiple rock wallabies.

First time here. The river was beautiful and really enjoyed the first 5km. The bush was very over grown and the track very narrow and dangerous due to erosion. Steep climb up Cowan track but rewarded with great views. Once you get to obrians rd you walk a bit then you get onto short cut track which we missed and walked the whole way back on the road. This was a hard track.

Slightly altered my path due to terrain. Good flat walk with some Elevation for those wanting to get out of the house!

Awesome hike would definitely go back and do it again

Lovely spot, generally fairly quiet. Note that the river usually dries up over Summer.

Very well maintained trail. wide roads and moderate traffic. Easy gradients but not much too see.

Not a bad loop- my tracker said it was 19.5kms, and the final walk along the road is disappointing. If I were doing it again, I’d organise to finish at O’Brien’s crossing. A section of the east walk is pretty vague- and gets a bit scrambly- up away from the creek- contrary to the map.

Got lost about 2/3 of the way through and ended up taking the Champagne trail back to the road. Very pretty track with lots of steep ascents and decents.

Really nice walk overall. Fairly tough going up to Keppell lookout as it’s about 3.5km ascent and some parts are slippery and muddy. Views are spectacular from the top and well worth the climb. Steavensons falls are great. Definitely more than 10.3km as suggested - more like a 13-14km round trip. Overall a great day but you would want good weather doing the climb.

It was a nice walk but I highly recommend going anti clockwise! I went clockwise and after limited hiking since COVID I struggled with some of the hills but got there. It took me about 1hr 37mins. Incredibly busy when I got back to the car park. Will do this walk again for sure
