Best trails in Halls Gap, Victoria

The Pinnacles in the Grampians National Park are one of the most popular destinations in the park as they provide one of the best vantage viewpoints with scenic panoramic views across the expanse of western Victoria. This loop meanders within the Greater Grampians bioregion with a high biodiversity value, through rocky outcrops, escarpment scrubland, heathy dry forests and riparian woodland - and it is likely you will be greeted by an abundance of wildlife who call this park home. There are two ways to reach the beautiful views of the Pinnacle. One route is shown on this page, starting in Halls Gap. The other route is coming from the Wonderland Road Car Park. This route starts in Halls Gap, reaches Splitter's Falls, then loops up to the Pinnacle before heading back to Halls Gap. This route requires some scrambling so take care, wear some sturdy footwear and carry along plenty of water!Show more

Wear good boots for this trek as there is some moderate scrambling near the peak. The route is fairly exposed so bring a hat and sunscreen!Show more

Definitely wear some good boots with grip, as it gets rocky and steep at some points. You'll get some stunning views from the top!Show more

The eastern stretch of this trail forms one section of the larger Grampians Peaks Trail, a 160km multi-day hiking trail due for completion in December 2020. This Central Grampians Loop is suggested as a 3-day/2-night multi-day trail and split into the following three sections: Halls Gap to Bugiga, Bugiga to Borough Huts Campground, and Borough Huts returning to Halls Gap.Show more

This is a loop walk from Wonderland Carpark to Turret Falls and then up to The Pinnacle. It allows you to visit the sights without repetition. Most of the walk is along well-marked paths but there is a short section south of Turret Falls that is a bit of bush bashing.Show more

This is a strenuous walk up the side of Mt Difficult Range from Halls Gap to Boroka Lookout. It's a climb of about 600 m, with the last 1 km of the walk the steepest. Despite the effort required, you will be rewarded with spectacular views. It's a difficult walk but well worth it, at least once. Show more

Chatauqua Peak with Climatis Falls and Bullaces Glen. Begin track behind sports oval to Climatis Falls, then continue up to Chatauqua Peak for views over Halls Gap to Lake Bellfield flanked by the Wonderland Range and Serra Range to either side. Continue loop to Bullaces Glen, then return to Halls Gap passing remnants of old logging infrastructure. Show more
