Length: 24.5 mi • Est. Multi-day
The walks starts at Howman's Gap, descending down the Junction Spur Track, almost to the Bogong High Plains Road. It then does a sharp right turn to pick up the Mt Arthur Fire Track that descends further to the Rocky Creek. Wet feet or a rock scramble across the creek, then a long slow climb contouring around the mountainside. Finally a vicious descent back to Rocky Creek and the Bogong Village completes the walk.Show more

Solid day walk to Mount Jim using the Australian Alpine Trail then along Youngs Hut Track to enjoy the open grasslands of the Bogong High Plain. A great walk to experience the emptiness of the high country. Best done outside of the colder months when there is snow on the ground. The weather in the park can be unpredictable year-round, so bring cold-weather gear and waterproof shoes. It is mostly exposed with no shade so bring a hat and sunscreen!Show more
