EPIC JOURNEY, the track we took back was no joke
really nice trail thought the tree and along the river. ends at the base of the falls were you can either keep going on anouther trail or turn back. I attempted to cross the river and come back via the rockslide but it started raining and I would.have run out of daylight so turned back. wear long pants due to some low spiky shrubs!
A more challenging walk than is made out to be. Sign said 4.5-6hr return, completed in 3hrs.
I went last year with 2 mates, and this section was absolutely wonderful. by far one of my favourite tracks. Steep and boggy at times, parts where washed out, we where walking down tracks that turned into literal waterfalls. But had a hoot. I'd make sure it's not too wet next time. We went up to the top of the track and tried to take the track over meander crag to Meander Falls. I wouldn't recommend doing that section without plenty of daylight and good weather. i underestimated the time it would take to cross the crag, mid crossing night came, we got saturated in rain, snow and battered by wind. Brought plenty of emergency provisions (don't go anywhere without double bagged dry thermals and jacket. and a shelter), survived in a limp tent in a rocky patch of trees at 1200m. Distance is not the only indicator of travel time. Terrain is critical. Bring emergency equipment. Cold Clammy Cotton Can't Come Camping. And the Huntsmans hideaway hut turns into the most beautiful place of refuge when you get stuck and make it back. And also, you never know, rent an EPIRB from Service Tas.
Bad Ass...Have trust in the All Trails GPS. It was perfect all the way. Very glad, though, that I took a backup battery for my phone.
great short walk quite challenging
Out to the waterfall is good going, after that, you're on your own. No trail markers and the bouldering section is quite challenging. Hoping to regain some kind of trail at the top didn't happen and thus I turned back. The view from the top is amazing.
Very poorly marked. Done the Split Rock Track and was very keen to continue on to the falls. Didn't realize we had to go back and follow a different trail to do so. Followed the red arrows for 2 hours and ended up in a massive expanse of rock with a random red arrow pointing ahead and no other ones to follow. Turned around and came back too exhausted to continue to the falls where we should have turned. Hard and challenging hike and even though we never got to our destination we would definitely come back and try again. Do recommend reading your map well beforehand

Challenging walk. but well worth it.
Beautiful in winter
One of my favourite walks so beautiful when it is snowing really like a winter wonderland
This walk is much harder than it sounds on paper. It is very rocky for almost the whole walk and some steep rocky climbs. It is also poorly marked and very often you need to retrace your steps to find the correct way. Having said that you do get spectacular views of the surrounding escarpments and the falls themselves are very impressive.
