hard slog for inexperienced hiker but well worth the effort

Was a nice hike, did both the walking track and the shared bike/walking track and both were pretty. The creek that you pass half way through the hike was a nice surprise. Would recommend.

Great track for a work out. Not very picturesque. Loved listening to the bellbirds.

Great place to get out and yet still close to the Brisbane city. There are various different walking tracks. We did a 5km walk and it was easy, but still quite nice. Also a popular place to go kayaking & mountain bike riding.

Great hike with rewarding views

The Mount Edwards trail is a nicely formed track with a consistent gradient to get the heart pumping. While it is an easy walk for the most part, anyone walking with children might consider warning them about the cliff edges, as this trail is thankfully kept natural (limited artificial steps and no railings).

The trail is predominantly a short hike for those visiting Moogerah Dam, and in fact begins by first crossing the dam and then following the clearly marked stairs up onto the track. From there it's a single well-trodden dirt trail with some loose rocks to mindful of kicking down in the steeper sections. Largely covered by trees it is shady for the most part, although would be hot in summer. Add to your winter hiking list like most of the nearby peaks.

Highlights include a section of beautiful Grass Trees (aka Blaga / Xanthorrhoea / Black Boy) in the final section before the summit, which can take 100s of years to grow. The summit view is beautiful, looking across to Mount French in the distance (including the edge of the face we call "Frog Buttress" in our climbing community - a popular trad climbing spot). The cities of Fassifern and Aratula can be viewed below, and Ipswich is beyond the range after.

A worthwhile hike - don't dismiss it because of the short duration or lack of technicality. What it lacks in length or epicness it makes up for in consistent steepness/gradient, which we included in our hiking plan as part of training for the alps. Glad we did - a beautiful afternoon.

good workout and enjoyed the changing landscape.

Giving this place a 5 because it was so peaceful and serene. The hike wasn’t too hard, only a few steep hills to climb. Most of the track is also quite narrow too. Going in the afternoon also provided beautiful sunset views over the reservoir. nice after a half day at work 

A hard walk carrying a full (20kg) pack. Stayed overnight halfway. A picturesque camp site with a stream not far away. Hills were pretty steep. Would recommend the walk.

Love this place!!!!

Love the trail. Highs & lows. Just love being within the natures 

Easy track to follow and has a good mix of steep and moderate hills. The surrounding bushland is peaceful.

Pretty easy and nice track. Very quite place.

The track was more like 7.5kms. The view from the top was great. Good walk up and down. We took our 2 kids up. There are spots that are steep with loose rocks. The kids found them challenging. We all liked it but not the calf muscles hurting 5 days later still.

Awesome walk...good workout..a couple of cliff edges but nothing too dangerous if you stick to the path ,sign marks the start of the cliffs. can be done with kids but under supervision at all times..a few trees across the path but nothing you cant climb over..watch out for your eyes as heaps of thorns and leaves at eye level...

Myself and my 8yo son made it to the summit, it was a Steep climb in places but the views ... wow .. just breathtaking ❤️ there is one lookout area about half way up which is an amazing view. The summit is roughly 1.5km past the lookout however the path gets steeper from here. Believe me the views are worth it and you can always reward yourself with a quick dip in moogerah dam when you get back down

Easy and beautiful

I used to live a minute down the road from Lake Eacham and myself & 2 kids regularly did this walk. Some beautiful old fig trees along the way & there’s also a secret waterfall track back along Wright’s Creek Road.

It’s good for training with its moderate constant ups & downs, does get the heart rate up. Not so good if you got a bad knee as the dry condition makes it slippery going down hills.
Not a scenic route as you won’t see the lake often on the loop.
Can get quite hot as it’s not shady.
Overall, beautiful lake.

Did a few laps out here the other weekend and incorporatted running up to South Boundary. Started from the end of Payne Road and ran anticlockwise to the dam wall then back again twice. Watch for the gnarly hill midway through the lap anticlockwise as it's a pinch from hell. Loved it! Lots of water in the back section so make sure you have good shoes that drain quickly and don't limit yourself to just this loop...make it bigger and better by heading up McDonalds Loop or South Boundary. Top spot

We did the entire loop, it was a nice walk with a great shaded creek bed half way, which was prefect for a break.
The loop wasn’t complete at the end, we had to walk 700m on the side of the road to connect back up to the discovery centre.

I love this hike. Worth it for the views.

A couple of steep sections - quite pretty in some places

Some tough climbs but nothing to hard. Muddy after the wet in places. Anticlockwise better than clockwise.

Love this place !! Such a great run. The thought of cooling off in the dam afterwards always makes me pick my pace up !

Great morning jog/walk.. Had a bit of confusion as the signage is not amazing, so ended up doing an extra loop of one part. Great hills and beautiful scenery. The last bit is a little funny coming back up the main road with no footpath, but otherwise no complaints. 12.4kms 2hr14mins

A good walk. I went out right and returned left. The last part was not very clear. I recommend following the road back. Otherwise be prepared to bush bash for a bit.

Great Sunday morning walk. Plenty of parking with a nice coffee afterwards.
