Great walk well marked, loved the rock climb at the top. Pushed hard 80 mins up & 70 mins down..

great three day hike 17km in you hit the up hill and it was hard. but still great hike

Loved to costal section. Beautiful ocean views with palm jungles. The inland half was just a gravel road, kind of boring. The upside is the second half is pretty flat. If you have the energy, I’d take the same coastal trail back to the car park instead.

Perfect for a level 1hr walk or a work out with Harbour views all the way.

I did this run without the additonal Chiltern path up and back and it was 12km on the dot. The Duck Ponds track is a long uphill when entering from the West Head side, and the down hill from the top of the Central track is long and cruisy back to the NP gate.

Very easy walk. Recommend going via smugglers track and down the other way.
Went on the tour of the lighthouse which was very enjoyable.

Beautiful views from the top, wide tracks and great rock formations! Our kids (age 7 and 9) also loved it! Great family walk.

Great view at the top. Sometimes hard to get a good park on the holidays. Moderately demanding going up. Nice and shady the whole way.

Great views with great company

done this on my own, amd with my then 4yro neice and our dogs. easy an fun.

Time this with whale watching season to make a great day even better.

Only con is trying to get parking in this area.

Great place for sundowners.

Highly recommend sunrise hike. We started at 3am. That rock scramble and sunrise was worth 1hr sleep. Would happily do this again in a heartbeat.

Also recommend the AirBnB in a Belle Tent...30mins drive from Base. Perfect place with an outdoor fire, wine and star gazing.

Caution in wet weather as rocks are very slippery and there's not much to cling to on the rock.

A lot of fun exploring and checking out all this hikes in the Giraween area. Hikes are in walking distance from both campsites.

day 1 tough. day 2 tougher. day 3 nice :)
watch out for snakes. kind of hard when they look like sticks... I suggest to set off at dawn on day 3 and get to jenolan by 10 so you can go on a cave tour, walk a track without ur pack or just sit at the cafe and try and drink them out of stock!

another tip is the bus arrives at 12pm "blue mountains coaches (or buses" if you catch the bus driver, he will let you to drop off your pack so you can explore more. bus leaves around 3.30. Bus driver is John and is a champ

Great hike with spectacular panoramic views. This moderate hike climbs at a even rate through the beautiful wooded rain forest all the way to the top. The last +100m you will encounter a challenging steep chain climb which is awesome, making the summit even more rewarding.

Beautiful walk, with well maintained tracks and amazing views of the water. The only thing that I didn’t like is that there are no free water on the trail, you can buy some water at the little shop at Garie beach but bring cash. Otherwise, make sure to bring plenty of water especially on a hot summer day as there are not enough shade. The camp at North Era is such a great spot for camping, close to beach. But I did this walk in 9 hrs with lots of break and an hour swim at the beach. I reckon this track can be done in 7 hrs with just short breaks.

Hard to find as have to climb over a fence. Had to follow other hikers to find our way. Beautiful walk to a stunning waterfall!

For those of you trail running there's not alot of open unimpeded open country on this well marked trail. There is a 2km open stretch at about 3.5km. Otherwise expect lots of root jumping and rock hopping. Its just over 14km if you run to the link track (top of the stairs at the Berowa end) and back.

Loved everything about it. Must Go

Great trail. Diversity with hilltop, river bank and bush views with a couple rainforest parts tucked in. It took us a pretty solid day to do the 24ish km. We pretty much followed this hike exactly and diverged from the Great North path to get to the train station. That section is a bit less travelled and I suspect we didn't find the best way.
Otherwise a couple notes : the first half has some water bubblers, cafes etc. the second half was all bush with no amenities. Right towards the end you walk a sewage pipe, it's underground but with air vents along the way which was a bit less pleasant. The Whitefire Grill was a good (but fancier than expected) lunch stop. Good call as it was the last food we saw.

It’s a great easy track down a fire trail, possibly a little steep on the way back up. About 1.5km but the dry spell has taken its toll and there not much of a pool at the moment

Easy hike through beautiful bush to magnificent falls.

Starting at the sphinx, the steep decline is a challenging ascent, making sure not to step on the wrong stone or branch. The steps take you down to a breathtaking view of the river, where the path leads you to the marine. The path is covered with small stones, so beware the ankles.

The second part of the track is the fire trail, which is a bit less spectacular, but is a great way to recover after the steep climb.

Had tons of fun while doing this run, will do it again!

Beautiful rainforest down to river. Climbing required in some sections. Found a set of waterfalls about 100m down stream at the river. Make sure your phones charged you'll need your GPS on the way back.

Nice easy hike
