Amazing route with amazing views of the surroundings. Be prepared though, that there is literally NO marking of the trail except of the 3 marks leading you out of the village, So be prepared to use a map, cow routes and an orientation sense a lot.

Only did the Lake Gosh portion: Hike up a rutted road through trees to a cute lake with good picnic spots. Since the hike is in shade, it’s pretty nice, and there is a table for lunch. You can’t swim in the lake, though. We probably should have left time to check out Lake Parz!

The hike itself is entirely on a rutted old road with maybe four or five spots of shade... avoid doing during the heat of the day. Also costs 3000AMD for foreigners; thing is, there are many stunning monasteries in the country and I’m not sure Hayuts Tar was worth the 3000 nor the hike itself. Also, definitely start at Garni Temple, not the Visitor Centre, which adds an extra 2km of road walking. Around Garni Temple, you’ll see the columnar basalts which are amazing, and make up 2/3 stars of this review!

Lovely hike, we absolutely enjoyed it! For us it was rather easy to find the "new way". That is because on the one hand the app shows the "new way" and on the other hand the trail was clearly visible from above. But Kirk was right, the concrete marker is broken.

Very nice hike - if you take the newer trail. As you descend out of Odzun, you'll come to a point where there is a fork in the trail. There is a painted red-and-white flash on a rock at this point, with an arrow pointing to the left path. DO NOT TAKE THIS PATH. It is the old trail, which is overgrown, difficult, and doubles the time to Horomayr. Go to the right, which goes up and hugs the base of the cliff. It looks like someone broke the concrete marker that indicates this newer trail.
