I hiked this in Feb of 2020; I found that there were a few muddy/damp areas along the trail but nothing that hiking boots couldn't handle. The terrain/scenery varied along the way, with a steady climb upwards. The views at the top are wonderful, but prepare for the wind! If I ever return to Ushuaia, I'm bringing ear plugs for this hike!

Easy, well-trafficked trail. The views along the lake are lovely :) Hiked in Feb 2020

Great trail, we went after a rainstorm due to time restrictions. I wouldn’t recommend going if it has recently rained as we were covered up to our knees in mud and peat moss. Regardless of the mud, it was a fun hike and the views throughout the hike (especially after you get out of the forest into the clearing) are breathtaking! Late review - I went November 2019

Beautiful views! I continued going up to the Rojo Blanco glacier and it was very beautiful. Muddy trail but not so hard. Did it at the beginning of March 2020 with great weather.

Muddy is an understatement. Make sure you have appropriate footwear and don’t be afraid to get it dirty (it will get extremely muddy - ankle deep muddy) toward the end, so don’t waste time trying to avoid the mud, as that will slow you down. may as well get dirty early!

We went halfway this trail, because we started a little too late on this one. The views at around 500m altitude are amazing as well. The views of the area and Beagle Channel at the summit should be incredible I guess. It's a demanding trail, recommended to start early.

it's a steady 8km track with only a slight pull towards the end (if leaving from the post office). At present, the trail is very boggy and muddy in places and there is horse muck almost the entire length of the trail. the guide book says you have great views of the beagle channel, but you don't really. You get good woodland sections and pebble beach walking experiences along a pleasantly undulating trail. The walk has yellow markings, but there are small stints where the markings are absent and it's at those sections when markings would be useful! Odd design. Overall, it is a lovely walk in the national park.

The views along the trail were amazing. The trail itself is more like a walk than a hike, not challenging.

Having seen other reviews, we were lucky that we did this hike after a period of no rain. There was relatively little mud/wet peat but it was quite cloudy so the lake looked dull and flat. No beautiful colors for us. Otherwise it’s a pretty easy trail and a nice walk.

Super muddy forest/bog trail. Views not spectacular but a very pleasant walk. A bit of climb the final 30min of the hike. Very rewarding view at the lagoon! We saw some condors there too.

Nice forest walk along the coast! Very accessible and easy walk with beautiful views along the way. Took us about 4h with many stops for pictures and lunch along the way. We also spotted some dolphins and saw quite some birds along the way. Park & transportation fees (from Ushuaia) make quite the costly trip though.
