Very nice trail with varios types of terrain, beautiful lagoon and coolest ice cage at the outskirts of the glacier. BTW it should be rated as medium level of difficulty.

Very Steep start and steep finish over scree. Peat bog was neat but I definitely got stuck in mud up to my shin! Forgot our poles, which would have been helpful and easier on my knees for the descent. Views from the top are incredible - 360 degree views. Absolutely worth it. And the part along the lake is also gorgeous.

Spectacular trail. It just keeps getting more beautiful until you arrive at the incredible lagoon. You will need hiking boots and ideally trekking poles for the muddy sections. And it’s hard to figure out where the trail is in these parts, but pay attention because you could make a mistake like me and end up in mud up to your knees. It was worth it though. Gorgeous. Highly recommend.

Beautiful hike. I recommend veering right at the start to take the path near the creek. It makes the climb up much more enjoyable. It gets very steep towards the end, but the view looking back on Ushuaia and the sense of accomplishment are worth it!

During the summer you can find great views deep in the forest and the beautiful landscape of the mountain. Ice caverns to enter and water lines allover.

This is a must do hike! So close to Ushuaia with plenty of parking, easy, well signed and absolutely stunning. There are several companies wanting to charge for this hike. It is not necessary! It can get pretty muddy in some areas so waterproof shoes are necessary. Gators and poles would be helpful but I didn’t have either and did just fine. If you want to continue for another 3 or 4 hours, you can do the Ojo del Alvino glacier. Once you pass the Emerald Lake, continue on its East side. The path is not kept or signed and I didn’t see a single soul after the lake.

Skiing

Went up there for glacier training before my ski trip to Antarctica. In the spring, the glacier holds relatively stable corn snow, which is good for skiing but will make hiking difficult. The trail begins with a long dirt road, before reaching the top of some short of old ski lift. The trail continues up above the treeline and onto the glacier. The landscape is massive and offers views of Cerro Martial, the Beagle Channel and Southern Patagonia.

Loved this walk. Caught a cab to the tea house . About 10-12 AUD for cab fair from city. Walk to view glaciers is about 30 minutes from tea house . The walk back to town starts behind the tea house, just follow the yellow paint . This walk down the hill through the forest was absolutely gorgeous. Took about 1 hour to walk down. A must do and it’s free .

Very enjoyable trail. Sweeping views of water and mountains. Plus “mittens” ,piles of shells/bones/ashes from the Yamana natives in almost every cove. Trail very well marked. Occasionally dip into heavy woods, also beautiful.

Very pretty walk, mostly along the Beagle Channel. Easy to find as the trail is clearly marked.

A perfect way to spend a summer’s day near Ushuaia, Argentina. Twenty minute cab ride to base of the ski area and a lovely hike up the mountain to the base of the glacier. Beautiful views of the bay and surrounding mountain ranges.
