Amazing views!

The absolute best hike in chalten. It was strenuous uphill the entire way out but absolutely worth it. Takes about 7 hours round trip but gives you the best views I have ever seen.

This is the best thing I have ever done in my life. Start early to avoid the chaos. And to off to laguna sucia once at the peak it’s much better views and incredible feeling of accomplishment. Also racked on piadres blancas glacier to this for a total of about 24km

Great warmup trail for the others in the city of el Chalten. Phenomenal distant view of Fitzroy and cerro Torre as the clouds roll in

A little muddy in spots. A few short, moderate hills. The variations are each quite different, so I’d recommend trying them all out. There was a wall of clouds starting at Cerro Torre, so we couldn’t see it at all. Still, the glacial lake made it worth the effort.

Incredible hike. Very long, and the hardest part is at the end, but the views are totally worth it. The trail was extremely eroded in many places (tread lightly and try to walk on big rocks please), but it’s otherwise very obvious and well maintained. In higher elevations, it was snowy and muddy, especially in the final 1 km climb to the top. We were extremely happy we brought spikes and poles. The lake was completely covered in snow, which was slightly disappointing, but the snow made the mountains pop. There’s a variation to go to Lake Capris. We did both (one on the way out and one on the way back). Lake Capris was prettier in my opinion. There wasn’t much garbage on the trail, but be a good steward and pick it up if you see it! There are plenty of toilets around the campamientos (Lake Capris and Poincelot). Lastly, our views of Fitz Roy in the morning were much prettier because the sun lights it up. It pays to head out early!

I took a transport from Ushuaia to Lapatia Bay and walked to the Alakush visitor center where this hike starts. It should be noted that the map of the park labels this hike as Hito XXIV. You spend the majority of the time around the lake and in and out of the forest. If you feel like you’ve wandered into a creek, I learned that the horse droppings are actually a good marker for where to go next. The views and the trail are unlike any I’ve ever done. Highly recommend this.

Perfect half-day hike. Going up can be a bit steep but overall do-able for any average hiker. Great view at the top on the dam and base camp. There is a possibility to go higher but we decided to not do this because it is more technical. Can be done in combination with rappelling down.

15 Sept 2019 - good weather, clear sky, easy to track. Laguna Torre frozen but still amazing view!

If you are traveling through this region of Argentina, you should not miss a trip to the Perito Moreno Glacier. Note that dogs are NOT allowed to enter. There is at least one doggy daycare in El Calafate where they will take great care of your 4 legged family member for a reasonable price.

We did it in mid Sept 2019. Very snowy and icy still at the top. You’ll need micro spikes to climb up and especially decent from laguna de los tres. Bad weather for us, couldn’t see mt Fitz Roy, the lake is frozen but was cool because someone just set up a tent and camp right in the middle of the lake. Weather changed fast so bring more warmth and wind proof clothing.

We hiked this in the winter (August) in Patagonia. Microspikes were an absolute necessity. I couldn’t imagine marking it to the top without them. There were parts that were pure ice slicks leading down to a cliff.....BRING SPIKES IN THE WINTER! We had no views because of the snowy and cloudy conditions but it was still an absolutely enjoyable hike! I would do this again in a heartbeat. Elevation gain towards the end is a work out, don’t underestimate it based on the number of happy Instagram picture you see at the lake. Totally doable in the winter with proper gear and clothing. Took us 8 hours round trip which included breaking trail in the snow.

Really nice hike. First part is kind of boring, second part is nice with lovely views. Third part is in the woods and a little cooler. Last part is steep and rocks. Views over te lake and Mountains are amazing!

One of my favorite hikes because of the Amazing views of Fitz Roy, glacier lakes, forests etc. Not much elevation change. The views make it worth it.

amazing, although the village viaciusly gouges tourists

We could observe many condors! That's great . The hike is easy and the view is splendid

This is the way to see the Fitz Roy!

this was close to 13 miles round trip from the little shopping area at the base of the mountain. the last mile or 2 was pretty difficult with steep terrain but there were lovely views throughout the entire hike. at the summit you can use a bathroom and purchase a snack. bring your own toilet paper!
