Long uphill to the lake and a few tough stretches but not too bad. The lake itself was beautiful and we saw a lot of goats. As the summer months go on this would be an awesome place to camp.Jamey Roberts on Rock Creek Butte 1 year agomore like 20 round trip.Trailhead located of nfr030.Shane Fritz on Twin Lakes Trail3 years agohikingThis is a 4 mile trail each direction. Scenery is beautiful, lots of wildlife. I usually see goats on the rocks above lakes, but not today. Alternate trail in starts at marble pass where road 7240 crosses the Elkhorn crest trail, this keeps you on the ridge until directly above lakes then steep descent into lakes themselves. This trail gives great overlooks of the Baker valley, and Phillips reservoir, along with the Sumpter valley.Alan Bourne on Elkhorn Scenic Byway3 years agoscenic drivingFrom historic Sumpter to the beautiful mountains, this trail in beautiful Eastern Oregon has it all. Be sure to allow enough time to spend in Sumpter. Named after Fort Sumpter, it has historic, quaint, a splash of modern and scenery in every direction.
