I did the upper portion of this trail past the hatchery. Once you leave the interpretative nature trail portion the trail narrows into a normal hiking trail. It follows along the ravine up the creek going through lovely stands of conifers. There is a fair amount of elevation gain on this portion, I'd put it at around 700 ft, and the trail was approx 2.5 miles long.
Enjoyed this trail today with my wife and daughters. Pretty short and the trail was easy walking. Very scenic especially for us being Midwesterners. First hike of our vacation and this was a great little taste of what Oregon offers. The column was great with beautiful views. The girls launched their little planes and had a blast taking it all in.
