Awesome hike, rough road to get to the TH though so be prepared. I was able to pick my way up in a FWD, normal clearance vehicle... just need to be careful :)

Beautiful hike. Rough drive to trailhead. 4wd a must, with adequate ground clearance.

Fun midday trail. Saw alot of mountain bikers of all ages. Alot of the trail runs next to a small river. Many down trees, open up for views.

Very nice midday trail. Saw alot of bikers of all ages. Mostly flat with a couple of 15 foot inclines. Close to the river most of the hike.

Good times, good friends. Clean Trail. Lots of down trees though.

Nice trail to snowshoe.1-23-1999

This was an excellent hike. It took us about 3 hours to get to the peak, and 2 hours to get back. There were gorgeous 360 degree views from the peak. A pair of mountain goats was waiting for us at the summit.

After you park, there is a 1.8 mile hike of switchbacks to get to the trailhead. Bikers can bike this first section. The last 1.1 miles is above the treeline and involves climbing multiple peaks before reaching the highest one: Byers Peak.

The trail is a fairly flat but scenic loop along a small creek. I biked the trail and rate it just above a beginner level, maybe intermediate skill level.

This is a fun loop with a sustained but easy climb, and a long fast descent on old fire access roads. Be sure to combine this with the Chainsaw Trail on your way back for some fun twisty singletrack.
