trail locations for San Francisco, California

If only all steps were this beautiful.

Love this path. I live right near the end of the trail so I started south and made my way north and back. I'd recommend checking out Sutro Baths and Camera Obscura while you're there.

Did half the hike then hooked into another trail. Beautiful but slightly short.

Wonderful views, though very busy at the weekends.

Walk on the North (water) side of Embarcadero and you can walk unimpeded by traffic lights. You can still catch a few glimpses of Fisherman's Wharf in between the tourist traps. Beautiful views of the Bay, Angel Island, Alcatraz, and Telegraph Hill

Easy trail for beginners and all levels! It's gorgeous and fun and great if you want to feel disconnected from the city without going far!

More of a walk than a hike. There's a ton of other tourists, but it's a scenic trail that you have to go on if you're near the golden gate. Beautiful scenery and picture spots. My favorite parts were the walk to Marshall's beach and the sand ladder. These are somewhat off the trail so make sure you take these detours

As far as urban hikes go this is a great stretch. Easy to add the lake loop and in the summer a non fire on the beach is awesome.

One of my favorite walks in the city. I usually park by Ft Point and go as far as China Beach but this segment is awesome. The hike down to the beach is worth it.

Great views of the city and rarely gets crowded. It can be windy but is a great place to watch the fog roll in over Sutro

Hike the GG Bridge while your at it !!

Just a fun experience. I usually go from here to the top of Lombard.
