Lots of options. We cut over to the beach and walked part of the way back on it. Sandy trail so we didn't go as far as we thought. I say it is moderate.

This is a great place to hike. It's really flat and the views over the ocean are spectacular. If you get a chance take this hike it's fabulous.

Beautiful scenery. We didn't exactly follow the trail but ended up on the beach anyway and altogether logged 4 miles. It was a nice hike that you could easily increase the intensity level if you choose to.

Pleasant hike, and I'm not kidding; I can't say enough great things about the Dunes camp grounds, other then it's the best camping in 100 miles easily. I grew up camping here my whole life and never once had a problem with rangers or groundsmen. They let my parents get away with some pretty rowdy shenanigans as long as your polite and respectful to them and the nature around you. They even don't mind (or haven't for me) allowing sleeping in overflow parking for the night for free. Very nice people there and much love for that place.

Not a long hike from the road, it's usually a very quite and relaxing beach, and if you really wanna make your significant other happy you'll cough up some dough and rent one of those awesome houses on the hill.

Lots of nice people, great and definitely the safest beach for kids in town. Not much hiking or viewing outside beach but the jetti is always fun and it's ALWAYS windy there so don't be surprised but there's cool kite stores in town lol. And the bodega dunes camping is out of the weather and just on the other side of the harbor and only 5 mins down the road, you'll thank me later.lol

Awesome place I grew up hiking all the time. I love this place no matter what the weather! The head is nuts up there during the big storms (no pun intended), and don't forget to check out the sweet hobbit (cypress) tree u can go inside of!

Really more of a walk/stroll than a hike but it's still very enjoyable. Go at your own pace, great views on a clear day (this time it wasn't) and some cool interpretive kiosks along the route.

Beautiful place. Came here from Santa Rosa after attending the Santa Rosa Air Show. I was with VFA-122 Flying Eagles in the airshow and thought that the beach here would be like any other beach in Cali. We got here and it was mostly cliffs, gravel, and rocky protrusions out from the sea with a crap ton of fog. But it was spectacular I can tell you that. My son had a blast. Even though I was not dressed for it I rock climbed about 20 feets in my casual shoes I had on. It warmed up and we went for lunch at some Deli at this gas station by the marina. Got some saltwater taffy and had a good day. Just beware the fog, other drivers, and the roads are very winding getting there.

You will not be alone but is well worth the drive. Be prepared to have trouble parking on a nice day!
We did see two whales on this trip.

This is one of my favorite hikes to go on when I just need to get away from it all. They've built up the road a bit in the last couple years to get to it, but they've also blocked the second parking lot. Get there early on a weekend to ensure you don't have to park on the side of the road. I do this one at least once a year in November. It gets a bit nippy but the views are georgous. The last time I did this one was in April 2012. The tall ships were in town so it was really croweded when I left. There is another trail to the right to the "hole in the head" This one has a ver steep incline and I've only done it once. The views aren't as great.

If you are looking to get away with a short hike this is a good one to do. Don't forget to stop by the Tides and get some clam choward to enjoy on Doran Beach before you head back!
