Too close to my apartment not to take advantage of this area as often as I can. Not as congested as Hole in the Rock. Has everything, easy 5K trail around the mountains, and if you need a better work out there's some good steep mountain to climb with nice views, especially to watch the sunrise/sunset.
Great landscaped paved off road trail from Papago Park to Indian School Rd. Some shade but mostly direct sun. Mild elevations south of Evelyn Hallman Park but flat north of the park.
Lots of parking, landscaping, and picnic area at Evelyn
This trail is heavily polluted, runs along a canal for a big portion of it. I would not do this hike again for several other reasons: no trail signs, crossing major busy streets, not a clear trail, and needed to use GPS for nearly the whole trail. The city of Tempe truly needs to invest time and money to pick up trash and install signage along these trails. Along the the canal part you could see squatter camps too. Sadly, unless Tempe does some major overhauling on this trail system I will not be back.

Steep and challenging! A good 3 mile loop
