The 40-mile Military Ridge State Trail, in Iowa and Dane counties, connects Dodgeville and Madison, by way of an 1855 military route between Verona and Dodgeville. The trail runs along the southern borders of Governor Dodge and Blue Mound state parks and runs east following highway 18. The trail is partially paved for several miles and the rest is crushed gravel and ideal for bicyling or walking and is wheelchair accessible.

Great trail, but be sure you pay for access. they were issuing tickets on the day I hiked.

Hike 10 miles from Verona to small town past Riley. Trail is well kept and easy to walk. Hope to do the whole trail this year. It was 45 deg F on the day I hiked

42 miles a pleasant Wisconsin country side. You guys don't know how good you have it! Just one of Wisconsin's many scenic rail trails :)

We biked this trail from Madison to Mt. Horeb and back. It was a fun ride, with stops at the Grumpy Troll and Riley's Tavern. A great day!
