A difficult, steep trail; stone steps on the south face of the east bluff. Spectacular views, with Balanced Rock along the way. Estimated hiking time of 45 minutes.
Rewarding trail on a steep climb. Rocks can be slippery so move slowly. Balanced rock itself is lovely.
Hard. Lovely once you get to the top. Take your time going up.
As close to hiking out west as it gets in Wisconsin. The views from the top are incredible and worth the climb.
This was awesome. That two 60 year old women climbed it was such a great feeling. I can now say I did it and mark it off the bucket list.
Very busy trail on a Saturday in the summer. would recommend going during off hours.
Super busy but very unique for sure! I would say that during the week might be best. Rocks are smooth and slick so for the love of Pete do NOT wear sandals or pumps!
Great trail, but really busy.
great, starting at the south shore its a steep uphill climb of mainly steps in the rocks. (350' in .3 miles)
Tough trail but fun. Pretty much straight up rock steps to the top.
Nice hike, great views.
Hands down the best trail wisconsin has to offer, combine with the east bluff trail and take the potholes trail down. Amazing, breath-taking views that go on forever. Large rock outcroppings, plus the entirety of the hike will only take up to 2 hours, leaving plenty of time to stop and take a good long look.
This is a fantastic stair climber hike with gorgeous views! While most of the trail is narrow there are plenty of places that allow passing if need be. overall a great trail and well worth the views!
Don't be fooled by the short distance. This trail is very hard to climb. You are basically just hiking up rock steps. But once you get to the top, you sure do have an amazing view! :)
