Wapato Park lies in a beautiful setting of lake and forest and is one of the most urban parks in the city. Visitors can enjoy display gardens, a walking trail around the lake (.9 miles) and an impressive, historic pergola WAPATO ANNUAL GARDEN The historic pergola, a crescent-shaped arbor with an open roof and tall columns, has lent a hint of Italian garden to this South End park's main entryway since 1938. The structure was restored in 2001 and serves as the backdrop for year-round seasonal color. Flower baskets hang from beams encircled by rows of blooms. WAPATO PICNIC SHELTERS Three areas are available inside the park: Wapato Park Kiwanis Picnic Shelter Wapato Park Main Picnic Shelter Wapato Park Pavilion The Kiwanis and Main shelters are reservable for the months April-September. Reservations may be made up to 365 days in advance. During all other months they are free to use and are available on a first-come first-served basis. WAPATO DOG PARK Wapato features three fully fenced areas for pets to romp leash free with their owners - including one reserved just for small dogs. Water, benches and shelters are provided on-site.

The lake is pretty, and the walk is great. The off leashdog park is nice. I take my dog here every weekend and let him run and play with the other dogs. The walk around the lake is easy but can get crowded.

It was a nice run. Made multiple loops to gain mileage of run. Not very crowded during that afternoon. Would do it again.

I walk this pretty often, usually incorporating the off leash dog park into my walk. On average my walks are about a mile.

Small lake with a lot of garbage. Short paved loop with some offshoot trails.

Wouldn't consider this lake to be a hike, more of a crowded walk. And also a juvenile lake, so couldn't even cast our lines. Pretty though, the park itself is clean. The lake, not so much. Lots of trash build up along the shoreline.

Wonderful park for a short walk along and around a pretty lake and through wooded areas. Also, nice picnic areas, including shelters. Most trails are paved and easy to walk.
