Table Mountain from the North Trail is a 11 mile out and back trail located near Stevenson, WA and is rated as difficult. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is accessible from April until June.
Moderate until the last mile or so - then it gets steep and rocky. Beautiful views!
heartbreak ridge on the way up is a must. very steep, lots of cliffs
For those that what to cut some distance of the hike start at Bonneville Hot Springs resort it is well worth the $ 5 parking fee which can be redeemed for the same value of goods at the resort on your return. The parking ticket can acquire at the reception desk. This does require you use the Dick Thomas Trail which starts at the gravel car park at the back of the resort, to the left as you enter the resort. Take the road heading up the hill and shortly you will see a sign for Table Mountain on the right. Follow this trail till it come to T junction take a right at the next junction veer left then right keeping the meadow you passed on your way up on your right hand side. Following the trail up you will come to the junction with the PCT remember this junction as it is your cutoff point on the way back down. Following the PTC up to the left and you eventually come to the sign board for the start of Heartbreak Ridge. Will this ridge is steep keep in mind that the descent is also in part steep and unlike the ascent very loose, trekking poles are a must or you will likely end up on your rear end. Having said all that apart from the summit views I think it provides some of the best views of the gorge around.
This was a super cool trail, though I would do it different next time. Start closer and take the east rout up and down next time. Took me 8 hrs to do it from the Bonneville Tamanous Trail Head. Long trip, but so pretty at the top.
Totally worth it, the views were amazing. Though this took me 8 hours I would next time start from a different point.
