The trail starts at a trailhead Shi Shi beach. Be sure to get a permit in Neah Bay. Hike through an old growth forest of Sitka Spruce. Be careful for mud on the trail. After emerging from forest you will see amazing haystacks and rock formations. You can hike for miles on the beach to Point of Archs

We hiked through a Sitka spruce forest but the trail was muddy. The forest was beautiful but the beach was even more amazing with haystacks and small islands off the beach. We hiked for miles on the beach to the Point of Arches where we saw tide pools and star fish, bald eagles and sea life. We spent 7 hours walking on the beach but you could spend less.

Start from La Push and hike north along the beach. Trail ends at Ozette Lake Camp Ground. approx. 30 miles long with variable footing. Sand, gravel, stone, and rock beaches with several head-land crossings using cable ladders and ropes. Cross some areas at low tide. Get a permit and bear-can from the forks ranger station. This hike is in my top 5 list of hikes, ever! Can be difficult, but with so few people allowed on this trail at any one point, it makes it like discovering a new world. Scenery is amazing and plenty of things to find on the beach and use to make your camping easier. Highly recommended for the experienced backpacker.
