A few years ago this area would have been considered an Eastern Washington oasis but due to low moisture levels over the years Pacific Lake along with Walter lake are now dry.At first glance the area may look parched and dry but in the Spring wildflowers flourish with varieties such as balsomroot, buttercups, desert parsley and bitteroot.Other times of the year you may catch a glimpse of a coyote or a mule deer but if you hike the area in the Summer look out for rattlesnakes and bring along plenty of water as the area has no shade and gets very hot.
