Narrow path made it hard to pass other hikers. View was beautiful at the top.
The views at the top were breathtaking! My dog and I both really enjoyed the trail and only ran in to 1 other couple at the top. :)
great hike with beautiful views at the top. I'd say this trail is moderate in difficulty level making it hard in the 90 degree heat of the day. very much enjoyed this one.
Start early to avoid heat and be in the shade on the way up. Steady incline the whole way up, getting quite steep for the last mile. Beautiful views from the top! Quad burner on the way down and little shade as it was afternoon. Would do this again when a bit cooler and a little better shape.
Really enjoyed this hike as a fam, would say go early as most of it is in sun. Hiked with 3 groups we arrived all at trailhead same time, other than that saw only 3 others. Take lots of water, we all drank our entire camelbaks. Dog friendly, a great 3 hr experience , 1 1/2 up 30 min photo ops, and only an hour down.
This hike had very few people. Which was honestly surprising. I usually hate switchbacks, but frankly this helped a lot with the elevation. It wasn't as difficult as anticipated, but definitely was hard. Bring LOTS of water. there is one small creek still running that our dog had stopped out and we refilled her water. I went through my two liters pretty quickly. If you can get started early, it would be worth it for the heat. At the very top there are a few logs cut out for seating. However, if you take a right and continue on for a few more minutes you will get an absolutely breathtaking view. You have a full 360 view of the area and Leavenworth. You really can see how far up you have come when you look down on the tiny town of Leavenworth.
Completed 8/9/15 late in the day to avoid the high sun/ heat as well as the crowds. Ran into 5 people total. The view is of the river, Leavenworth and rt 2. The view is at the saddle. (It is to the right at the top of the switchbacks and worth the long switchbacks). I didn't find it tedious or difficult and wished I had more time to explore the ridge up to the left.
Beautiful views, dog friendly, waterfalls, physically challenging hike
Beautiful flowers and the waterfall at top was incredible
Nice trail, easy to follow, great views, and not too steep. We were there early (8:30 am on a Saturday morning), so it was very quiet on the way up. Lots of people coming up when we were heading back down. Took just under an hour to go up, and a few minutes less than that coming down.
Trail is in great condition. Narrow and steep making passing a challenge in places. Great views up Tumwater Canyon and down the Upper Valley from the top. Wild flowers aplenty.
Very peaceful and beautiful hike. Wait till you get to the top!
Wonderful hike! Gentle incline at the beginning leads into many mildly steep switchbacks. Near the top is when it gets most steep, but still not bad. Wonderful views along the way, and really awesome views from the top. Had two seven year olds and a three year old that made the entire hike. Definitely do it if you're visiting or looking for an easier hike that still works you out.
Moderate is a mild statement
Awesome hike! Beautiful view! So in love with my home!
Beautiful views with a steady climb. Had two kids (5 & 8) who made the full hike. Snow at the top but was manageable without gear. Bluebird day made it very rewarding.
