Mike is right. The directions to the trail head lead to a private gated road with no access.

This seems to me to be an often overlooked trail by hikers. It is most used by cyclist, which may account for this. It is a beautiful and moderate climb to access Tubal Cain, and Mt. Townsend by way of the Little Quilcene Trail. I like to use this trail as a loop. It sets you up to either go to Mt. Townsend, Silver Lakes, then back to the parking lot by way of the Lower Dungeness River Trail. Or you can access Tubal Cain, Upper Dungeness River Trail, then out the Lower Dungeness River Trail, which is what I did this past week.
