Crab Creek Trail is a 4 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Mattawa, WA that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, nature trips, and birding and is accessible from April until September.
The trail follows Crab Creek in the Columbia National Wildlife Refuge. Birds commonly seen are Lincolns Sparrows, Lazuli Buntings, Rock Wrens (in the nearby basalt cliffs),Eastern and Western Kingbirds, Bullocks Orioles, and Yellow-breasted Chats. The area in general is also known for its migrating Sandhill Cranes in the spring.
