Getting There From U.S. Highway 101 in Hoodsport, turn west on the Lake Cushman Road and follow it 9 miles to the junction with Forest Road 24. Turn left on FR 24 and immediately right at the Big Creek Campground Road. The Big Creek Loop Trail No. 827 begins at the parking area at the campground entrance, 750 feet above sea level.

You have to get to the TH 827.1 from the 827 Trail which is accessed in the Big Creek Campground. The hike up and down is a nice walk but not much to see. But when you get near the top and at the top, it is worth the hike, lots of scenic creeks. The actual name is Upper Big Creek Trail Loop #827.1.

Very nice hike, well maintained trail. Good hill. Lots of bridges. Saw a big toad. Would not consider hard as advertised.

Be sure to find an actual trail head. If you follow the directions on All Trails it leads you to a house where a man tells you in not so many words to get off his property and there is no hiking trail there. We were run off.

Well kept up. Nice hike with lots of bridges to cross. Today was cloudy so no views of Ellinor.

Liked so many bridges and creek crossings because I like to hear the running water. Went counter clockwise to be a little easier on the knees. Nice new parking area near the trail head, with a nice pit toilet.

IMO, not the most scenic hike you can dedicate 4 miles to. My experience may be tainted by the unusually dry year it's been, about half the wooden bridges were spanning dry creek beds. however, if you do decide to hike this trail, be sure to take the side trail to the confluence, where the two rivers merge. this is a great spot for a snack or lunch break.

My dog and I loved this excursion. it was very scenic, and easy. So if you're looking for a challenging hike, this isn't it. The Trail Head is not marked, and there is more than one obvious trail that you can follow either uphill or flat towards the creek.. Once we could see the creek, there were a few access places that were easy to get to and shallow enough for my dog to enjoy playing in and I was able to comfortably sit on the bank and take in the beauty. I would definantly recommend this one for all.
