Alpine Lookout Trail is a 9.3 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Leavenworth, WA that features beautiful wild flowers and is only recommended for very experienced adventurers. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is accessible from April until September.
From the Round Mountain parking area, the trail rises rapidly to the side of Round Mountain where there is a vista on the north side looking over Lake Wenatchee and Dirtyface Peak. The trail then turns is a clockwise direction and skirts around Round Mountain, then proceeds along Nason Ridge to a high point of 6100 feet at mile 4. The trail then loses elevation in a saddle to about 5700 feet elevation, before climbing up to the location of Alpine Lookout at 6237 feet.
Nice trail, amazing views, not to many people whoch make it even better.
Awesome trail, with a beautiful view and lake on top.
10 mile round trip hike from the Round Mountain trailhead, with 2400 feet elevation gain. Trail is in good condition with some areas of erosion from spring snow melt runoffs. Awesome views of nearby Cascade peaks, including Glacier Peak and Mount Rainier. We saw a few mountain goats at the lookout. Highly recommended.
