Love this short but sweet trail! Not too rigorous but enough to give you a good workout. I'm glad that dogs are allowed and all of the ones I have encountered were very well behaved however I do wish that the owners would clean up their dog poop that's left right in the middle of the trail! I don't want that in my hiking boot treads!
Not the place for views, but it's perfect for trail running
Decent trail. Easy access from Roanoke.
1st time on this trail. Liked it a lot. Great for a quick morning hike!!
Took my two dogs running. Total loop is 5.4 miles. Awesome trail. First time on it and very scenic. Ran in October when the leaves were starting to change. Easy red markers to follow.
Family Friendly but with some decent challenges.
Relatively easy and fun hike.
Pretty trail! The whole loop is 5.4 miles. Lots of flowers and pretty scenery along the trail. Easy and feels like your a lot further out of town than you are.
The entrance to the Chestnut Ridge Loop Trail is located at MP 120.5 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Take the Mill Mountain Parkway for about a mile and parking for the trail is on the right. Bathrooms are available at the Mill Mountain Visitor's center at the top of Mill Mountain. This trail is a local favorite for trail running.
This place is surprisingly nice for the locale and fast becomeing one of my go-to spots due to it's location so close to my home, and to everything else. Dog friendly and the trials are both wide in most places, as well as sparsely populatd.
I believe this is the chestnut ridge trail which you can access via the parkway, Yellow Mountain Rd or from South Roanoke at Fern Park. Its a nice easy hike but extremely accessible. The nature trail spilt off is worth checking out. Dog friendly and surprisingly not crowd considering location.
A nice, easy hike that is close to downtown. It's nothing spectacular, but this is great for a quick stroll in the woods. I'm not sure, but I think this may actually be called chestnut ridge loop.
